It might not be R9, but it’s a start. In sharing the trailer for the upcoming Smurfs movie, Rihanna confirmed she will drop a brand new song — “Friend of Mine” — for the animated feature on Friday. Rihanna stars in the family-friendly flick arriving in theaters July 18 as Smurfette. The movie also features the voices of Octavia Spencer, John Goodman, James Corden, Nick Offerman, and Sandra Oh.

Two of the biggest sports retail giants are supposedly coming together, with the Wall Street Journal reporting that Dick’s Sporting Goods is nearing a deal to buy Foot Locker for $2.3 billion. Under the current reported framework, Dick’s would be paying $24 per share for Foot Locker. On heels of the news, shares for Foot Locker soared over 67% in after-hours trading, while Dick’s stock price fell nearly 7% at the time of this writing.

Netflix revealed Wednesday the two NFL games it will be streaming live on Christmas Day this year: Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders will host Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, while the Detroit Lions will visit the Minnesota Vikings. Netflix is hoping to replicate last year’s success on Christmas, when the Chiefs-Steelers and Ravens-Texans games reached 65 million U.S. viewers, per Nielsen.

Joopiter, the luxe digital auction house founded by Pharrell Williams, is launching a marketplace, branded as a 24/7 platform where people can purchase pre-owned luxury goods and collectibles. Items come from the archives of Pharrell, jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, entrepreneur Easy Otaborb, and music exec Steven Victor. Highlights include rare Hermès Birkin and Kelly bags, Pharrell’s customized black Timberland boots, and high-end jewelry once owned by Liz Taylor.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced Wednesday that it is reviving the name HBO Max for the popular streaming service, the fourth name change for the platform in the last decade. The change comes due to “changing consumer needs, and the fact that no consumer today is saying they want more content, but most consumers are saying they want better content,” writes Warner Bros. in the release.

Lionel Messi has scored a total of 859 career goals for club and country, and soon enough, we’ll know which one was his favorite. The Inter Miami captain said Tuesday he will reveal his favorite goal ever on May 22. That goal will then be turned into AI-generated art by Refik Anadol and auctioned off for charity. Messi and Anadol will both autograph the piece, which will be unveiled in New York by auction house Christie’s on June 11.

In disappointing news for Burberry, the British fashion house reported a loss of £3 million ($4 million) during its latest financial year. Revenue also experienced a sharp 17% decline to £2.5 billion ($3.4 billion). As a result, the brand announced intentions to shave almost a fifth of its workforce, affecting up to 1,700 roles, to reach an additional £60 million ($79 million) of savings over the next two years.

The estate of late Portland Trail Blazers owner and co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen, announced it has formally put the team up for sale, with the proceeds going to philanthropic efforts. Investment bank Allen & Co. is leading the sale alongside law firm Hogan Lovells. Sportico currently values the team at $3.6 billion, a far cry from the $70 million Allen purchased it for in 1988. While the estate also owns the Seattle Seahawks and a stake in the Seattle Sounders, only the Trail Blazers are currently for sale.

Google announced a slew of new innovations ahead of its I/O conference next week, including an Android redesign called Material 3 Expressive, scheduled to arrive later this year. Updated features include new animations that Google says will make your device feel more fluid, as well as new dynamic color themes and unique typography. Finally, Google showed off its updated Quick Settings panel that allows users to add more of their favorite actions, such as Flashlight or Do Not Disturb.

Ice Spice is the latest artist to enter the beauty industry, inking a partnership with Revlon to create a new collection of fragrances. Slated to drop next year, this marks Revlon’s return to collaborating with celebs on bespoke fragrance lines, adding that “Ice Spice’s talent, vibrant energy and influence, Revlon is set to captivate a new generation of consumers who value individuality and self-expression.”
