The Met Gala has raised $31 million this year, the largest amount in the event’s 77-year history, organizers announced Monday. This year’s theme, based on the spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” exploring 300 years of Black fashion and the cultural storytelling of Black dandyism. Co-hosting the event alongside Anna Wintour will be Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams, while honorary chair LeBron James revealed he’ll be skipping festivities due to a knee injury he sustained at the end of the Lakers’ season.

In a shocking move, Skechers announced Monday it has been acquired by investment firm 3G Capital for $9.4 billion. 3G will pay $63 per share, a 30% premium on the shoe brand’s current valuation, taking Skechers private after 26 years as a public company. Skechers’ stock was up nearly 25% at the close of Monday trading. Skechers is currently the third-largest footwear company in the world behind Nike and Adidas.

Prime Video‘s NBA studio team keeps getting better. Amazon‘s streaming platform confirmed Monday the additions of Udonis Haslem, Steve Nash, Dwyane Wade, and WNBA legend Candace Parker to its inaugural season of NBA coverage, which tips off this October with the start of the 2025-26 season. They’ll be joining previously announced studio team members Taylor Rooks, Blake Griffin, and Dirk Nowitzki.

Bad Bunny is trekking across the globe in support of his sixth studio album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos (I Should Have Taken More Photos). Upon completion of the 30-show residency in his birthplace of Puerto Rico this September, he’ll take a short break before hitting Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Portugal, Germany, the United Kingdom, and more for a stadium tour from November through July 2026.

La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid sits atop CNBC’s 2025 most valuable soccer clubs at $6.7 billion, while 12-time Premier League champions Manchester United ($6 billion) sit in second. Barcelona ($5.65 billion) in third, newly crowned Premier League champs Liverpool ($5.4 billion), and Manchester City ($5.2 billion) round out the top five. Per the list, the 25 most valuable teams are worth an average of $2.76 billion.

Due to supply chain issues, Apple is reportedly exploring splitting up the launch of its forthcoming iPhone models. While the upcoming iPhone 17 is still expected to drop this fall, the iPhone 18 series will likely be separated into two waves next year. The first would feature premium models such as the iPhone 18 Pro & Pro Max, a slim version, and the rumored foldable iPhone launching during the typical September window, with the standard edition and a more affordable iPhone 18e option dropping in Spring 2027.

The 2027 NFL Draft will be held in the nation’s capital. While dates haven’t been finalized, the release says it will take place across Washington D.C.’s most iconic landmarks, including the National Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Commanders owner Josh Harris confirmed the news alongside President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, saying they believe the event will attract over 1 million fans. For reference, the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit brought in a record 775,000 fans, while over 600,000 fans attended last month in Green Bay.

Marvel picked up another box office win after Thunderbolts* made $76 million domestically and $86.1 million internationally for a total of $162.1 million over its debut weekend. Although bumped to the No. 2 spot, Sinners still hauled in $33 million, pushing the horror flick’s gross to $181 million stateside and $57 million overseas for an impressive total of $236 million worldwide to date.

Robert De Niro and Jenna Ortega will play opposite one another in a forthcoming feature, Shutout, directed by David O. Russell. Per Deadline, it follows veteran pool hustler Jake Kejeune (De Niro) as he mentors young prodigy Mia (Ortega), the two ascending the high-stakes pool market as an unstoppable duo. The project is expected to be shared with potential international buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

Adidas Originals and designer Willy Chavarria are set to release the first of two product drops as part of their Spring/Summer 2025 collection later this week. Featuring items that merge streetwear aesthetics with athletic wear while highlighting Chavarria’s signature clean lines, the collection includes a dress, jersey, tracksuit, t-shirt, headgear, and sneakers. The full capsule will be available to shop on Thursday.
