Donatella Versace Steps Down After Nearly 3 Decades
Donatella Versace announced Thursday that she is leaving her role as Chief Creative Officer of Versace after her nearly 30 years at the helm. She will be succeeded by Dario Vitale, a former design director for Miu Miu. Versace added that she will remain active as chief brand ambassador, vowing to remain the Italian luxury brand’s “most passionate supporter.” Versace held her post since 1997 when she took over following the death of her brother, Gianni, the company’s founder.
Comcast, IOC Reach $3B Deal to Keep Olympics on NBC
The Olympics will remain on NBC and Peacock through 2036 after a deal was agreed upon between Comcast and the International Olympics Committee. Valued at $3 billion, the deal also includes Comcast providing technical, video, and advertising support to the IOC and the Olympic games. The Paris 2024 Summer Olympics reached an average of 67 million total viewers per day across its broadcast, cable, and streaming networks.
Jordan Chiles, Derrick Rose Among Those Added to 2025 Sport Beach Roster
Stagwell revealed a slate of famous faces scheduled to speak at this summer’s Sport Beach 2025 in southern France for Cannes Lions. Joining Carmelo Anthony, Sue Bird, and Saquon Barkley at this year’s event will be Jordan Chiles, Emma Hayes, Derrick Rose, and Shannon Sharpe, among others.
Nikki Glaser to Return as Golden Globes Host in 2026
Nikki Glaser will host the Golden Globes for a second consecutive year in 2026, CBS and the Golden Globes confirmed Thursday. The New York Times’s 2024 Comedian of the Year was the first woman to host the ceremony solo this January. The 83rd Golden Globes is scheduled to air on CBS in January 2026 and will be streamed on Paramount+.
Gucci Taps Demna to Lead Creative Direction
Demna is leaving Balenciaga to become the next artistic director at Gucci, starting in early July. The Georgian will be in charge of womenswear, menswear, and accessories. In a statement celebrating his arrival, Kering chairman and CEO François-Henri Pinault said Demna’s “creative power is exactly what Gucci needs.” In return, Demna said he looks forward to “writing together with Stefano and the whole team a new chapter of Gucci’s amazing story.”
Global Recorded Music Revenues Hit $36.2B in 2024
MIDiA’s Recorded Music Market Share report revealed that profits for recorded music worldwide revenues increased 6.5% year-over-year to $36.2 billion. However, the mark was a slight slowdown from 2023, during which profits jumped 9.7% year-over-year. Sony Music Group took the top spot as the fastest-growing major label in the first half of the decade, expanding between 2020 and 2024 by a total of 73.9%.
Jean-Michel Basquiat’s “Sabado Por la Noche” May Sell For $16M
A painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat is heading to auction and is expected to command double-digit millions for the owner willing to pay the price. Painted in 1984, ArtNews writes that “Sabado por la Noche (Saturday Night)” will headline Christie’s Hong Kong’s 20th/21st Century Evening Sale and could sell for $13 million to $16 million.

The second annual Black Ownership in Sports Symposium is scheduled for March 22 in Atlanta. Monarch Collective Announces New $100 Million Funding Round
Monarch Collective, the first private equity fund solely dedicated to women’s sports under managing partners Kara Nortman and Jasmine Robinson, announced a new $100 million funding round Thursday, increasing the total fund to $250 million. A majority of the round comes from existing investors led by Melinda French Gates’ Pivotal Ventures, Hello Sunshine CEO Sarah Harden, and former Netflix executive Cindy Holland.
PLL, WLL to Host Combined All-Star Weekend at CPKC Stadium
The Premier Lacrosse League and Women’s Lacrosse League announced a joint All-Star Weekend that will take place at the CPKC Stadium, home of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current. This will also be the PLL’s first visit to Kansas City in league history. Weekend festivities will kick off on July 4 with a skills competition and the WLL All-Star Game, with the PLL All-Star Game capping the weekend on July 5.
