Dr. Dre has officially joined the billionaire ranks, according to the latest Forbes Billionaires list, nearly 12 years after declaring himself โ€œhip-hopโ€™s first billionaireโ€ following the $3.2 billion sale of Beats to Apple in 2014. Forbes now estimates Dreโ€™s net worth at $1 billion, placing him around No. 3,332 globally. He becomes one of just six billionaire musicians, joining Jay-Z, Beyoncรฉ, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Bruce Springsteen. Other newcomers to the list include James Cameron, Roger Federer, and more.

Today, Kevin Durant and The University of Texas announced a comprehensive NIL program that will celebrate a select group of Longhorn student-athletes in their continued basketball journeys.โ  In partnership with Nike, Texas womenโ€™s basketball forward Madison Booker will become the first athlete to receive access to KD PEs, apparel, and more.โ  The University of Texas, Nike, and Durantโ€™s Boardroom will also partner on an annual sports business summit open to all The University of Texas student athletes and sports business students with a goal of creating impactful, interactive programming to foster their education in the business space. The inaugural summit will take place later in 2026 and feature marquee speakers, content and storytelling strategy sessions, financial literacy planning, and more.

Roku has expanded its partnership with the X Games, securing exclusive streaming rights to its newly launched league. The team-based league, officially the MoonPay X Games League, will debut this summer with both summer and winter competitions and stream on Roku Sports Channel. Roku will also air the inaugural league draft live from Los Angeles. Linear broadcast rights for both properties remain with ESPN.

Eliot Glazer is launching a new sports comedy podcast, So U Think U Can Sports?, with help from basketball legend Charles Barkley and actor Justin Hartley. Produced by Lemonada Media, the show will feature Glazer interviewing Barkley, current athletes, coaches, and team owners to explore the world of sports with humor and insight. The podcast is set to premiere this fall.

Apple has delayed its planned smart home display as the company continues to work on a redesigned Siri central to the deviceโ€™s interface. The product, internally code-named J490, was initially slated for Spring 2025 and later pushed to this month, but is now expected to launch around September. The display is designed as an AI-powered home hub with facial recognition and personalized features.

The NCAA will monitor officials in this yearโ€™s basketball, baseball, and softball championships using ProhiBet by Integrity Compliance 360. The system anonymizes officialsโ€™ identities and crosschecks them with sportsbook data to flag impermissible betting. More than 220 officials will be tracked, marking the first time the technology is used at NCAA Championships, aiming to protect competition integrity and student-athlete well-being.

ESPNโ€™s 2026 MLB Spring Training coverage drew its largest linear audience since 2008, averaging 531K viewers across a four-game slate, an 84% increase from 2025. Every game ranks among ESPNโ€™s most-watched spring training broadcasts since 2016, with theTeam USA vs. San Francisco Giants matchup on March 3 leading at 677,000 viewers. Fans can continue streaming games via the ESPN App and MLB.TV.

The American Music Awards are returning to Las Vegas for its 52nd edition on Memorial Day at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The live broadcast airs on CBS at 8 p.m. ET and streams on Paramount+. Nominations drop April 14, with fan voting open until May 8. Following last yearโ€™s comeback, expect big performances, awards, and surprises as the AMAs celebrate todayโ€™s top artists across genres.

Universal Pictures is developing a biopic on the early years of Bon Jovi, charting the band’s rise from humble New Jersey beginnings to rock stardom. The film will involve input from frontman Jon Bon Jovi, with a script by Cody Brotter and production by Kevin J. Walsh and Gotham Chopra. With over 130 million albums sold, Bon Jovi was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

The gaming company behind hit titles like Monopoly Go, Pokรฉmon Go, and Marvel Strike Force, Scopely, has surpassed $15 billion in lifetime revenue, the company told The Hollywood Reporter. Much of its growth has been fueled by aggressive acquisitions, including the $3.5 billion purchase of Nianticโ€™s gaming business, as Scopely continues expanding its global gaming ecosystem.
