‘GMoney Brick Breaker’ Revolutionizes On-Chain Gaming

Last Updated: July 5, 2023
The revolutionary on-chain game comes after Yuga Labs’ acquisition of the CryptoPunks collection — giving full commercial rights to holders.

In January 2021, GMoney purchased Punk 8219 of the immensely popular CryptoPunks collection for 140 Ethereum —converting to a then-record $170,000. He quickly emerged as one of the more influential voices in the NFT space, launching “The Cutting Edge” podcast and becoming a general partner in Delphi Digital’s INFINFT.

Monday, GMoney solidified his position as an NFT pioneer with GMoney Brick Breaker — a reimagining of the late-’90s video game that is hosted by GMoney’s CryptoPunk 8219 and the first-ever fully on-chain game using “new technology with a compression rate of over 90%.

GMoney created the revolutionary game in partnership with CyberH49, an AI researcher, and his blockchain incubator GM420 Labs.

The 2,500 pieces, priced at 0.069 ETH — but free outside of gas fees for GM420 owners — sold out.

GMoney Brick Breaker also marks the first-ever commercialization of a CryptoPunk followingBored Ape Yacht Club creators Yuga Labs acquiring CryptoPunks and Meebits from Larva Labs last Friday. The blockbuster deal, in part, granted commercial rights to NFT holders of CryptoPunks and Meebits.

“The opening of intellectual property for the CryptoPunk community is a win-win for all NFTs,” GMoney said in a statement. “In the near future, I strongly predict that community members like me will have the right to build empires of opportunity for individual pieces, their full collections, and collaborative projects.”

“But most importantly, individual owners will not be the only winners in the space — the creators and projects themselves that are open and collaborative with community members will be the ones that thrive the most,” the former equities trader continued. “We have already started to see this play out in our space, fostering a new era of collaboration and open creativity which will no doubt lead to further innovation in the metaverse.”

GMoney is speaking from experience.

The surging influencer attended Prada’s runway show at Milan Fashion Week with his CryptoPunk avatar covering his face. That was followed by Adidas tapping him, Bored Ape, and PUNKS Comics to help guide the brand into the metaverse. To tie a bow on it, he had a hand in an Adidas x Prada NFT collaboration.
