EXCLUSIVE: Cade Cunningham Joins LeBron, Durant, Giannis with Nike Signature Shoe

Cunningham revealed the news to Kevin Durant in Boardroom’s latest Cover Story, where the Pistons All-Star reflects on a dream-come-true moment.

LeBron James. Kevin Durant. Ja Morant. Devin Booker. Giannis Antetokounmpo. And now, Cade Cunningham.

The young Detroit Pistons All-Star guard has officially stepped into sneaker royalty as just the sixth active NBA player to land a Nike signature shoe, revealed exclusively in Boardroom’s November Cover Story during his sit-down with Kevin Durant.

“I haven’t really grasped it yet. … Man, it’s crazy. Dream come true,” Cunningham told Durant.

Durant, who has 18 models of his own signature line with The Swoosh, recalled a phone call the two shared this offseason, when they connected about what it truly means to have your own shoe with a brand like Nike. His advice from a signature veteran to the newest member of the club?

“Make sure you hands-on with all the designs, man. This shit is fun,” Durant told Cunningham. “It’s fun once you really put your hands on it. Early on in my career, I was more like, ‘Alright, just give me a shoe, and I’ll just put it on.’ But as I got older, I really started to value from the ground up, the whole process. It’s a part of your legacy. That’s who you are. Your shoes are going to be on the ground forever when you done playing.”

Up until now, Cunningham has mostly rocked Nike’s Zoom GT Cut line, lacing up custom pairs stamped with his double-C logo, which Durant called “one of the coldest logos I’ve ever seen.” Now, he joins Pistons legends Grant Hill (Fila), Isiah Thomas (Asics), and Ben Wallace (Starbury) as the rare stars to lead Detroit while headlining their own signature shoe.

Be sure to catch the full conversation between Cunningham and Durant here.
