Women In Sports | WNBA & USWNT

Last Updated: October 25, 2022

Four of the most dynamic female athletes in sports today sit down with Jay Williams for a candid conversation about their personal careers, business opportunities, and the elevation of women’s sports on a global scale. 2x FIFA World Player of the Year, 2x World Cup Champion, and 2x Olympic Gold Medalist Carli Lloyd details what the fight for equal pay and equal representation has been like for the US Women’s National Team and how the world of women’s soccer has changed over the years. New York Liberty basketball star Tina Charles talks about her passion for film and how producing and directing her first documentary, “Charlie’s Records,” helped fuel her off-court business goals. WNBA legend Lisa Leslie talks about the early days of the league and what it was like to be marketed alongside the likes of Shaquille O’Neal. Lindsey Vonn, 3x Olympic medalist and most successful female skier of all time, talks about what’s next for her after retirement and how she’s balanced her brand partnerships and entrepreneurial aspirations with her skiing career.

All four women offer different perspectives on the evolution of women’s sports, financial considerations, marketing visibility, and brand opportunities across different sports, and the realities of building a personal business alongside one’s athletic career. They also use the opportunity to learn more about how each other’s pay structures work, and share stories about key lessons they’ve learned throughout their careers.
