Mike Tyson Doubles Down on Mental Health with NFT Project

Mike Tyson is no stranger to innovative investments and has become a major proponent of mental health. In his most recent venture, he’s combining his two interests, as  the former heavyweight champ has announced a new collaboration with TheDreamChain, which touts itself as “crypto with a conscience.” TheDeamChain is only available for trading during the hours that the stock exchange is open, as it believes that the 24-7 crypto world contributes to the mental health struggles of collectors. Earlier this week, Tyson also signed a partnership with Clubhouse.  

Lil Durk Joins the Bored Ape Yacht Club

The Bored Ape Yacht Club continues to become the most coveted membership in entertainment and sports. On Saturday, reports emerged that Lil Durk purchased Bored Ape #9977 for 79 Eth ($259k). The ape sports a leather jacket and has a blindfold covering its eyes.

Crypto Rounds out a Down Week

The cryptocurrency market is volatile, and its unpredictability reared its ugly head this week when token prices plunged. After a year of gains, cryptocurrency prices were down on Monday, Jan. 10. While Bitcoin was down 5%, Ethereum and Dogecoin also dropped substantially. However, Doge got a subsequent boost with the help of an endorsement of Elon Musk, rounding out the week on an upswing.

Fear of God x Adidas Collab Set to Drop

Jerry Lorenzo’s new chapter with adidas is set to begin. In December, Lorenzo gave a sneak peek of the upcoming hoodie drop courtside at the Lakers game, but soon, the butter-yellow hoodie with blue Fear of God and adidas branding will be available.

Shaq’s Signature Shoe Goes Global

In 1998, Shaquille O’Neal famously ended his $40 million deal with Reebok. At the time, he shifted to designing and distributing a shoe that could be accessible to his fans everywhere, sporting a reasonable price point. In a 2021 interview, Shaq estimated that the SHAQ shoe has sold 120 million pairs at Walmarts across the country. Now, the big man is going global, bringing the shoe to South Africa. It will have the same reasonable price, and open a new market for the everyday basketball shoe.  

Djokovic Officially Escorted Out of Australia 

It’s been a wild couple of weeks for Novak Djokovic. The Serbian superstar was detained upon entry in advance of his Australian Open appearance. He was released and it was believed that he would be granted an exemption allowing him to play in the grand slam despite his unvaccinated status. However, Djokovic’s visa was revoked a second time, and efforts to overturn the decision were denied.
