LeBron James is bringing the PGA Tour back to his hometown. The LeBron James Family Foundation Invitational will debut at Akronโ€™s Firestone Country Club in July 2027, pairing Tour pros with emerging golfers from the APGAโ€™s Pro-Bound Five program. The two-day event will also connect Jamesโ€™ I Promise students with professional golfers through mentorship programs, advancing his mission to make golf more accessible while creating new opportunities for young people in Akron.

Dolly Parton, the country music icon whose songs, larger-than-life personality, and business empire made her one of Americaโ€™s most beloved entertainers, has died at 80. Parton died Tuesday in Nashville, according to a statement from her nephew posted on Parton’s official Instagram; no cause was given. Born into poverty in Appalachia, the 11-time Grammy winner built a career spanning music, film, television, and entrepreneurship. Through songs like โ€œJoleneโ€ and โ€œCoat of Many Colors,โ€ Parton turned personal hardship into enduring stories of hope and possibility.

Netflix is exploring a major shift in its streaming strategy. The company has reportedly discussed bringingย Peacockย andย Fox Oneย to its platform with NBCUniversal and Fox, potentially giving subscribers access to more content and live sports. No deal is imminent, but the talks signal Netflixโ€™s growing willingness to embrace the streaming bundle model pioneered by Amazon and YouTube as competition for viewers and retention intensifies.

Gucci is bringing serious star power to Demnaโ€™s first campaign for the Italian fashion house. The Primavera campaign features Tom Brady alongside Xiao Zhan, Shawn Mendes, EsDeeKid, Rico Nasty, Alex Consani, and other global names from sports, music and entertainment. A new study offers a clearer look at CTE among former NFL players, finding that at least 25% of those who died between 2016 and 2021 had the degenerative brain disease. Researchers analyzed data from 1,712 deceased NFL players and said the 25% figure likely represents a low-end estimate, given limitations in brain donations and diagnoses. CTE can only be definitively diagnosed after death, making its true prevalence difficult to determine.

The cast of 30 Rock is getting back together for a special one-night-only reunion celebrating the beloved NBC comedyโ€™s 20th anniversary. Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski, Jack McBrayer, and more will reunite Oct. 11 at New Yorkโ€™s Radio City Music Hall for an evening of games, surprises and โ€œnonsense.โ€ The event, produced by Live Nation, wonโ€™t be televised, with all net proceeds benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Harlem.

Issa Rae is returning to HBO with a new comedy pilot set in the world of Las Vegas boxing. The series follows a 30-year-old barber and aspiring sports manager who is the best friend of an up-and-coming boxer as the pair navigate ambition, loneliness, and success. Rae will write and executive produce, with Insecure collaborator Prentice Penny serving as showrunner, executive producer, and director.

The Big Ten is set to bar players with NFL experience from returning to its schools, responding to a legal loophole that has allowed former pros to regain college eligibility. The move follows LSUโ€™s addition of former NFL players Daeโ€™Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, who returned after leaving the league and repaying their earnings. The NCAA says court rulings granting unexpected fifth years are destabilizing college sports, while the SEC is considering similar restrictions.

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are taking their real-life friendship to the next level in Brothers, a new Apple TV comedy that imagines the longtime pals discovering they might actually be half-brothers. Apple is doubling down on the Mac as an AI machine. The company unveiled upgraded Mac Mini and Mac Studio models featuring new chips designed to accelerate AI workloads and let developers run large models locally. The Mac Mini now starts at $899, up $100, and introduces Appleโ€™s first M6 chip. The Mac Studio starts at $2,499, with M5 Max and M5 Ultra configurations capable of handling increasingly demanding AI applications. Both go on sale Sept. 22.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is teaming with the U.S. Tennis Association to make the U.S. Open more accessible to local fans amid soaring resale prices. The initiative will offer 1,000 tickets for $100 each to NYC residents, including seats at Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong stadiums and grounds passes. Tickets go on sale Aug. 26 and will be first-come, first-served for buyers with certified NYC ZIP codes. The tickets cannot be resold.

Oura could be headed for a blockbuster IPO. The smart ring maker is reportedly targeting a September U.S. listing that could raise up to $3 billion and value the company above $16 billion, a major jump from its $10.9 billion valuation last year. Oura, which has expanded beyond its early biohacking audience into the broader sleep and recovery market, expects nearly $2 billion in 2026 revenue. The company confidentially filed to go public in May.
