The multimedia mogul looks like he’s on track to stay booked in 2025, as the NFL announced on Friday that the West Coast rapper will serve as the host of this year’s NFL Honors, set to take place ahead of Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 6 at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans. The evening showcases the league’s biggest season awards, including MVP, Coach of the Year, and Walter Payton Man of the Year.
Timothée Chalamet Lands SNL Double Duty
Saturday Night Live is set to resume its 50th season next week. Ahead of its return, the iconic show revealed its upcoming lineup. Dave Chapelle and GloRilla will team up as the host and musical talent for the show’s Jan. 18 episode. The following week, native New Yorker Timothée Chalamet will serve double duty, taking on both the host and musical guest responsibilities as he rounds out the media tour for the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unkown. This marks the third time that the 29-year-old star has hosted the program, but his first musical guest billing.
Venu Sports Shutters Ahead of Launch
Last year, Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. promised to disrupt the future of live sports with Venu, a joint sports streaming venture between them. After missing its August 2024 anticipated launch, the companies announced on Friday that they will not move forward. The decision comes just days after Disney settled a dispute with Fubo, announcing that it would combine the streaming platform with Hulu + Live TV to bring sports programming to 6.2 million subscribers.

Wicked is kicking off a new year on top. The Broadway adaptation hit video on demand over the holiday season, although fans can still catch the blockbuster film at their local theater. In its first week of at-home release, the movie generated $70 million. The figure netted a new record for Universal, marking Wicked as its highest-grossing VOD offering for a single day and for one week. Since opening in November, the Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo-led movie has become the top-grossing Broadway adaptation in history as it approaches $700 million.

According to inside sources, Capri is reportedly in conversations with Prada to sell off its Versace holdings. The Italian fashion house is working with Citi to build a potential deal. Insiders estimate Versace’s worth between $1.75 billion and $2.19 billion.

TikTok’s fate in the United States looms in question. The Supreme Court heard arguments on Friday surrounding the impending shutdown of the app, which is currently scheduled for Jan. 19, and appears to be leaning toward upholding the law. Critics cite TikTok as a threat to national security, as US Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar argued, saying “It’s about trying to close off a vulnerability that a foreign nation adversary could exploit.” The Biden administration is adamant that the timeline should be upheld, and the court is expected to turn around the decision quickly. While the incoming administration has not taken a public stance on the dispute, it has advocated for an extended timeline in order for it to have an informed point of view on the future of the app.
