Seven-figure Patrick Mahomes 1-of-1 Rookie Card Hits the Market

A Patrick Mahomes 1-of-1 RPA already holds the record sale for any NFL card, and this latest offering on PWCC Marketplace is expected to fetch millions.

One of the most sought-after Patrick Mahomes cards just hit the market, and the hobby has taken notice.

Another 1-of-1 Rookie Patch Autograph card featuring the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, this time from the Panini Flawless set, is available now at PWCC’s Fixed Price Marketplace. Devotees will recall that a 1-of-1 National Treasures Horizontal Rookie Patch Auto featuring Mahomes sold for $4.3 million back in July — an all-time record sale for any NFL card.

This particular card comes with an asking price of $2.25 million, an impressive figure that would crack the top three on the list of the most expensive football cards ever sold.

Besides coming from a different Panini set, there are a few major differences between the two.

  • The National Treasures RPA had a BGS grade of 8.5 (near mint-mint+) including:
    • Centering: 9.5
    • Edges: 9
    • Corners: 9.5
    • Surface: 8
    • Autograph: 10
  • The Flawless RPA sports a BGS grade of 8 (near mint-mint), including:
    • Centering: 9.5
    • Corners: 9
    • Edges: 9
    • Surface: 7
    • Autograph: 9

Another huge difference between these two cards? The patches. The National Treasures RPA has an NFL shield — one of the most desirable patches among collectors and investors alike — while the Flawless RPA has the nostalgic AFL and Lamar Hunt tribute patch.

Lamar Hunt is the late owner who moved the Dallas Texans to Kansas City, where they would become the Chiefs we know today.

Patrick Mahomes is one of the NFL’s brightest stars, already boasting an MVP trophy and a Super Bowl ring to his name. He’s not just one of the best players in the game (or any game), but also the highest-paid by total contract value. that said, Chiefs are currently in an uncharacteristic last-place position in the AFC West, and Mahomes’ card values have sunk as a result.

With that in mind, this may be the perfect time for any stragglers to get on the Mahomes hobby train. His trajectory as a player will almost certainly continue to rise.

If you were looking for a Mahomes card with massive growth potential and have $2.25 million burning a hole in your wallet, this Panini Flawless RPA is a pretty spirited place to start. It’s not often you’ll see a 1-of-1 featuring one of the NFL’s bright stars.

And if $2.25 million is a bit of a bridge too far, the seller is taking offers as well.
