Mookie Betts and Corona Team Up to Bring the Beach to October Baseball

Corona and Mookie Betts unveiled Playa Sounds, a first-ever audio mix that captures playoff intensity and beach vibes, complete with branded cassette kits and a fan sweepstakes.

As the MLB Postseason looms, one of the game’s biggest stars is bringing a different kind of energy to October.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts has partnered with Corona, the official cerveza of Major League Baseball, to debut Playa Sounds. This first-of-its-kind soundtrack fuses the intensity of playoff baseball with the laid-back rhythms of the beach.

The collaboration is built on the idea of “Playa Mode,” Corona’s brand ethos, encouraging fans to stay present, focused, and balanced in any moment. For Betts, who has thrived under postseason lights throughout his career, the project was a natural fit. Boardroom caught up with the MLB star about the new collaboration.

“It was a lot of fun, honestly, a lot of fun,” Betts said of curating the mix. “Everybody loves going to the beach, right? You’re just really in the moment, chilling. But when I think about the postseason, it raises your heart rate — you get excited. Creating this was really a way to try and stay in between: ready for the moment, but in a good mental headspace.”

The soundtrack blends live game sounds — like home run calls, crowd reactions, and iconic postseason commentary — with calming ocean waves and breezes. Tuned at 432 Hz, a frequency linked to clarity and flow, the mix is meant to put players and fans alike in the right mindset for October.

For Betts, that balance is critical. He explained that baseball requires both calm and intensity: nine innings of focus punctuated by moments where everything can change in an instant. A curated soundscape that channels that duality felt both fresh and meaningful to him.

“Baseball is a sport where you can’t really get too excited just because it’s nine innings,” Betts explained. “You really have to be in a calm headspace, but you have to be fierce and ready to go because you never know when the ball’s coming your way or when the pitch is the one you want to swing at.”

Corona sent out branded Playa Sounds cassette kits to select fans and partners, complete with a cassette player, wireless headphones, and a physical tape of the soundtrack. Winners of the sweepstakes also got the kit, along with the grand prize of a trip for two to a 2025 World Series game.

The campaign underscores how brands and players are meeting audiences where culture, sport, and lifestyle collide. Betts views projects like this as a bridge between fans and the game, providing a shared entry point into the postseason energy. He hopes fans connect not just with the sounds but with the mindset.

“I hope that the mindset it gives them reminds them of the same one as me,” he said. “It’s kind of like a connection with me. You’ll know what I’m listening to and you’ll feel the same headspace that I’m in.”

With October around the corner, Playa Sounds invites fans to prepare like a champion while staying grounded in the moment — just as Betts has throughout his career.
