In partnership with Ethernity, the Argentina legend welcomes soccer fans across the world to The Messiverse.
Legendary forward Lionel Messi has unveiled his first-ever officially licensed NFT collection with blockchain platform Ethernity as part of an ambitious project known as “The Messiverse.”
The exclusive set will be available on Ethernity’s website and features three non-fungible token collectibles designed by Australian artist Bosslogic. He’s worked with Marvel on its record-breaking Avengers franchise and has a robust social media following that includes 2.2 million Instagram followers.
The first NFT is entitled “Man From the Future.” It features Messi, who has scored more than 750 goals for both FC Barcelona and his native Argentina — including the most all-time for a single club — in AI bionic form. Bosslogic envisions the football of the future, depicting the 34-year-old in the cyber football leagues of tomorrow.
The second NFT, “Worth the Weight,” sees Messi take the form of Atlas, the Titan of ancient Greek mythology who was responsible for bearing the literal weight of the world on his shoulders. If you’ve watched Messi work his magic on the field for both club and country, you’ve seen him carry his teams to victory against incredible challenges time and time again.
The third Bosslogic NFT, “The King Piece,” brings an aesthetic reminiscent of the Middle Ages. The game of chess grew prominent during the latter part of this era, and Messi here represents the king on the board — the piece that ultimately determines a game’s winner and loser. The man who sits on the throne. He’s seen lifting one of his record six Ballon d’Or trophies, given annually to the world’s best footballer, in a tableau fully adorned in gold.
There will also be a fourth NFT revealed later this month designed by creative agency Impossible Brief that was officially authenticated and licensed by both Messi and Copa America.
Argentina won this year’s Copa America, South America’s premier national team competition, for the first time since 1993. Notably, it was Messi’s first major international trophy, an elusive victory that would serve as a fitting capstone to his legendary career with the Albiceleste.
“The collection is a set of pieces outlining achievements, moments, team love, and future accomplishments focusing mainly on the man himself,” Bosslogic said in an official release. “Thanks to Ethernity, the dream of working with one of my favorite people in the world and one of the GOATs of our time, Messi, I have had the honour and privilege to create a set of pieces for the icon; to go down in history as his first singular NFT drop!”
With all of Messi’s goals and awards, including 34 major trophies at the club level highlighted by four UEFA Champions League crowns, can now finally celebrate these achievements in digital form with a collectibles drop that merely marks the beginning of a game-changing partnership with Ethernity.
