Kirsten Ferguson Is Pedaling Toward a Bigger Legacy

From Peloton’s global stage to new passions in beauty, mentorship, and authorship, Boardroom talked to the renowned instructor about writing her own playbook.

When Kirsten Ferguson clips in, the energy is undeniable.

The Peloton instructor, motivational coach, and mom of two has built her career on more than sweat and cadence counts; she’s driven by purpose. Ferguson says her work on the platform is already the defining chapter of her legacy.

“I am changing and impacting lives on a global scale, and I feel like that has always been my life’s purpose,” she told Boardroom.

In an exclusive interview with Boardroom at Sport Beach in Cannes, Boardroom spoke to Ferguson about how she’s shaping impact far beyond the bike.

Betting on Herself

If there’s one business move Ferguson credits for elevating her career, it’s this: advocating for herself.

“For a long time, I thought I had to fit in a box of what people said I should be doing,” she said. “Now, if I want something, I go get it. I don’t really accept no as an answer — it’s just a pivot to where I’m really meant to be.”

Ferguson first joined Peloton in 2020, stepping into the role of cycling instructor just as the at-home fitness boom reached its peak. Before that, she spent seven years working with the NFL in various roles, while also building a side career in fitness and wellness. With a background in corporate HR and coaching, she brought a mix of discipline and relatability that quickly resonated with members logging on from around the world. What began as a bold career pivot soon became a global platform, allowing her to merge her passion for wellness with her talent for motivating others.

That mindset has carried her from the corporate world to Peloton’s global stage, where she’s become a fan favorite for her mix of tough love, warmth, and authenticity.

And while her classes reach thousands every day, Ferguson is equally focused on the impact she can make off the bike. Ferguson’s passion extends to uplifting the next generation, especially young women of color navigating today’s digital-first world.

“It’s a really scary time now with social media,” she said. “I want to tear down that stigma and really allow them to see their true potential.”

That same forward-looking mindset extends to her personal ambitions as well. Ferguson is constantly thinking about the next big manifestation on her vision board: a partnership with CoverGirl.

“As a young girl, I always just remember seeing beautiful models and campaigns,” Ferguson said. “I love playing in makeup. My girls love playing in makeup. One of my dream brands has been and will always be CoverGirl.”

But even powerhouse instructors need some downtime.

Ferguson admits she’s “late to the party,” but lately she’s been binging Curb Your Enthusiasm. When she’s not catching up on Larry David, she’s watching basketball, especially the WNBA’s New York Liberty and Golden State Valkyries, or whatever her daughters choose for family TV night.

Every step of Ferguson’s journey has been defined by resilience, vision, and a refusal to be boxed in. From Peloton’s global community to her vision board, she is redefining what it means to move with intention. She’s building her legacy not just through miles logged, but through the lives she touches, the girls she mentors, and the power moves she manifests.

As Ferguson put it: “If I want something, I go get it.”
