Jimmy Butler Talks BIGFACE Coffee’s Shopify Progress

The Heat star spoke at Shopify’s Commerce+ speaker series about the brand he launched last season inside the NBA bubble.

Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler has taken his BIGFACE coffee company to the next level.

Partnering with Shopify, Butler created a BIGFACE online NFT store where a $250 purchase gets consumers a custom-made limited edition box with two blends — one with milk and one without, two Cup Of Excellence coffees, and a placard that will activate an augmented reality experience. The NFT also provides an access point for events, special pricing, and early access to future drops.

Butler famously launched BIGFACE last season inside the Orlando bubble during his team’s run to the NBA Finals.

Butler and Grammy Award-winning artist and super producer Pharrell spoke at Shopify’s Commerce+ speaker series on Wednesday, where the 32-year-old, five-time All-Star discussed how he approaches his brand and connects with the coffee and NFT communities.

“We really, really love this coffee thing because we’re not good at it,” Butler said at Commerce+. “So as bad as we are, it just makes us pick up a book or read up on other people in what they’re doing and how they’re doing it to try to make this thing as big and for better words, the best thing out there. “

Butler, who also has investments and endorsement deals with Beats By Dre, Li-Ning, Hyperice, Rhome and others, said there’s one principle he and his partners at BIGFACE keep above any and everything else.

“You always make everyone feel wanted and respected,” he said. “We’re going to help everybody along the way, because that’s who we are.”

While a Shopify spokesperson declined to release sales data for BIGFACE, the company is quite satisfied with how its partnership with Butler is going, nearly two weeks after the initial Oct. 1 NFT drop.

“Jimmy is one of the hardest working and most fascinating players in the NBA, both on and off the court,” said Jon Wexler, vice president of Shopify’s creator program. “The qualities that make him an outstanding basketball player— his passion, his discipline, and his commitment— are the same that make him an incredible entrepreneur. We’re excited to support Jimmy as he builds BIGFACE into one of the most exciting brands today.”
