Dallas Cowboys Valued at $6.9B, Remain No. 1 on NFL Valuations List

The Dallas Cowboys are set to kickoff against the Bucs to jumpstart the NFL season on Thursday, but America’s team has already claimed a major victory. The Cowboys topped Sportico’s latest list of NFL team valuations at $6.9 billion — also the No. 1 figure in global sports. Across the league, teams saw major boosts to overall value, even in the wake of the pandemic’s effect on the sport last year.

Leylah Fernandez’s Star Continues to Rise as She Cruises into US Open Semis

The 19-year old Canadian took down Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 as she continues her dazzling play at the US Open. With the victory, Fernandez becomes the youngest player to make the semis since Maria Sharapova in 2005. She will face Aryna Sabalenka on Thursday.

Fox Sports Gets Head Start on 2023 Superbowl Ad Sales 

Reports indicate that Fox Sports will begin to sell ad space for Superbowl LVII starting this week, 18 months before the big game. The news comes as 85% of the advertising inventory for SBLVI has already been sold out, with $6 million for 30-second slots. Inside sources expect next year’s slots to increase to $6.5 million.

Dodgers’ Albert Pujols Blasts HR in St. Louis Return

In a storybook moment, Albert Pujols lifted a first-inning pitch over the wall in left field in his first return to Busch Stadium as a Dodger. The home run came after the former Cardinal received a 40-second standing ovation, honoring the 11 seasons and two World Series titles he shared with the team.

Alabama Maintains Top Spot in AP Poll

After their 44-13 takedown of Miami, Alabama remained in the AP Poll’s No. 1 slot heading into this weekend’s college football action. Georgia and Ohio State took over the second and third positions after their impressive performances, and UCLA and Virginia Tech broke through to the top 25. 

Jeter and Walker Lead Newest Class of Baseball Hall of Fame Inductees

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will welcome its newest members in a ceremony in Cooperstown slated for 1:30 p.m. today. The ceremony, which will be aired live on MLB Network, features a Hall of Fame class including  Derek Jeter, Marvin Miller, Ted Simmons, and Larry Walker.

Steph Curry Tapped as Global Ambassador by FTX

NBA Superstar Steph Curry is linking up with crypto exchange FTX for a long-term partnership that has the three-time NBA champion becoming not only a global ambassador, but also a prime shareholder in the company. In addition to an equity stake in FTX Trading Limited, Curry will also see his foundation, Eat.Learn.Play., partner with FTX on various charitable initiatives.

Sportradar Announces IPO Plans, Seeks to Raise $532M

Sportradar, a Switzerland-based sports-data provider, is looking to raise as much as $532 million in a US initial public offering, according to a regulatory filing released this week. The company, which was founded in 2001, boasts more than 1,600 customers across 120 countries and is an official partner of the NBA, NHL, and NASCAR.

New York Jets Sign Multi-year Partnership with Fubo Sportsbook

The New York Jets are naming Fubo Sportsbook the team’s official sports betting partner, the organization announced Wednesday morning. The multi-year agreement, which is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2021, marks Fubo Sportsbook’s first sponsorship of a professional sports team.
