Denver Nuggets Sign Michael Porter Jr. to Max Contract

The Denver Nuggets have invested in their future. Michael Porter Jr.’s agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, announced on Monday that the 6’10” small forward agreed to a five-year, $207 million supermax contract with the team. The deal mirrors the rookie extensions extended to Trae Young and Luka Dončić earlier this off-season and makes Denver the fourth team in the NBA to have three players on supermax contracts.. 

Jonquel Jones Named 2021 WNBA MVP

The Connecticut Sun’s center closed out an impressive 2021 campaign as she was named the WNBA’s 2021 MVP. Coming off last season’s opt-out, Jones averaged 19.4 points per game, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists for the Sun, which faces the Chicago Sky tonight in the first of a three-game playoff series.

NFL Reinstates Josh Gordon, WR Set to Join Chiefs Roster

The NFL confirmed on Monday that it will reinstate wide receiver Josh Gordon, following his July appeal. Ian Rapoport first reported that the wide receiver will sign with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, where he will start out on the practice squad but is expected to quickly rise to the active roster. Gordon seemingly confirmed this news, tagging the Chiefs in a tweet, announcing it was “time to get to work.”

In the biggest deal in talent management since the WME and Endeavor merger in 2018, CAA announced on Monday that it is set to acquire ICM Partners, Deadline was the first to report. The merger positions CAA to expand its footprint in the sports world, given its existing roster of more than 2,000 athletes – including Dwyane Wade, Aaron Rodgers, and Cristiano Ronaldo – and the recent acquisitions of the NFL agency Select Sports Group and the soccer agency Stellar Group. 

Endeavor Wagers on Sports Betting, Acquires OpenBet for $1.2B

OpenBet, a sports betting business owned by Scientific Games Corporation, is being sold to Endeavor Group Holdings for $1.2 billion, the two companies announced Monday. The agreement, which is expected to close next year, has Scientific Games receiving $1 billion in cash and $200 million in Endeavor Class A common stock.
