Albert Pujols is wrapping up his 21-year career in the perfect fashion. The St. Louis Cardinals DH launched two home runs on Friday night against the Dodgers in a 11-0 victory, lifting him into the exclusive 700 home run club. Only three other players in the history of the MLB have hit the mark – Barry Bonds, Babe Ruth, and Hank Aaron.
Spurs, Popovich Bring on Former WNBA Star Candice Dupree
The San Antonio Spurs have hired former WNBA star Candice Dupree as an assistant coach on Gregg Popovich’s staff. Her storied 16-year career includes seven All-Star appearances, as well as three Gold Medals — at the 2004 World University Games — and at the FIBA World Cups in 2010 and 2014. Dupree retired after the 2021 season and later joined the NBA Assistant Coaching program. From there, she made an impression as a guest coach for the Spurs during the 2022 Summer League. Now, here she is, following in similar footsteps as former Spurs assistant and now-Aces head coach, Becky Hammon.

Mitchell & Ness announced Friday that it has launched its own heritage takes on Michael Jordan’s famous North Carolina threads. Released recently as part of their College Vault program, the home-and-away set of authentic tops and shorts are now available. In 2014, the vintage apparel company signed an exclusive deal with Jordan Brand to produce authentic NBA jerseys to celebrate MJ’s career.

Eight Countries’ Will Wear LGBTQ+ Armbands At Qatar World Cup
The Netherlands, England, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Switzerland, Wales, Sweden, and Norway will participate in a season-long “OneLove” campaign that promotes inclusion. All countries — except Sweden and Norway — will play in the Qatar World Cup in November, and each captain of these eight nations will wear a distinctive-colored heart armband during the tournament. Qatar is known for violating basic human rights, and failed to offer World Cup safety guarantees to LGBTQ+ fans.
Celtics Leadership Confirm Extended Investigation into Udoka, Impending Financial Fine
The details surrounding the situation with Ime Udoka and the Boston Celtics continue to slowly come into view. The Athletic reported early Friday morning that Udoka made “unwanted comments” towards a Celtics staffer he was having a consensual relationship with. Later in the day, Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck and team president Brad Stevens held a press conference. For the sake of legal implications and privacy several details will remain private, but Grousbeck said there will be a “significant financial penalty” in addition to the one-year suspension. As for Udoka’s future — Boston’s brass said they’ll figure it out at a later date.
