Stephon Gilmore Released by the Patriots
2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore was released by New England on Wednesday, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and later confirmed by Gilmore himself via a statement on social media. The lights-out corner was set to come back off of IR from a quad injury in Week 6 but had stalled negotiations on a new contract over the summer. He will become eligible to be picked up by any team as of 4 p.m. ET.
Michaela Onyenwere Crowned WNBA’s Rookie of the Year
After a standout season, in which she swept Rookie of the Month honors, the New York Liberty forward was named the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year. The former UCLA star started in 29 of 32 games and averaged 8.6 points per game, leading the Liberty to their first playoff appearance since 2017.
Two-time NBA Champion Pau Gasol Officially Retires
Pau Gasol confirmed suspicions that his 19-year NBA career had come to a close on Tuesday as he officially announced his retirement. Shams Charania reports that the two-time champ’s No. 16 will be raised to the rafters at the Staples Center by the Lakers. Gasol had previously announced his retirement from international play following his final performance with the Spanish national team in Tokyo.
DeChambeau and Koepka Take Their Beef to “The Match”
Just in case your Thanksgiving dinner doesn’t present enough tension, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka will be facing off in the newest installment of Capital One’s The Match on Friday, November 26. Despite putting their mutual dislike on hold for the sake of the nation at last month’s Ryder Cup, the two will go head-to-head face off at Las Vegas’ Wynn Golf Course for a special 12-hole event. DeChambeau enters the event with a slight advantage, having teamed up with Aaron Rodgers to take down Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson back in July.

WTA to Jointly Develop Health Tracking App
In an effort to create clear communications systems, specifically, as they relate to COVID-19, the Women’s Tennis Association is teaming up with KPMG to create a health tracking app for its athletes. The app’s features will allow athletes to upload relevant paperwork, track performance insights, and access mental health resources.
