No. 2 Alabama Outlasts Auburn in 4 OT Thriller

Nick Saban has seen nearly everything in his career as a head coach, but on Saturday, he told reporters he will always remember the 2021 Iron Bowl. Mistakes plagued regulation for the Crimson Tide, but they put together an improbable comeback leading to four overtimes. After Auburn failed to convert a two-point conversion, Alabama finally locked in the win, 24-22. 

No. 6 Michigan Beats No. 2 Ohio State

Going into Saturday’s game, Jim Harbaugh had one item unchecked on his coaching to do: beat Ohio State. Job accomplished. The winter weather didn’t slow down the Wolverines as they took down the Buckeyes 27-42. The win puts Michigan in a position to be a late addition to the college playoff picture. For Harbaugh, the victory also proved to be a pretty payday as he secured a $500k bonus as his team heads to the Big Ten Championship.

Kambosos Beats López in Split Decision to Capture the Unified Lightweight Title

It was a long road to Saturday night’s fight at Madison Square Garden, which was originally scheduled for June in Miami, but it proved to be worth the wait. López came out fast and furious, but Kambosos was able to outlast him and capture the split decision in what proved to be one of the best fights of 2021.

Timberwolves Take Home Double OT Win Against 76ers, 121-120

Joel Embiid was back on the hardwood for the first time since Nov. 8 on Saturday looking like he never left. The big man put up 42 points, but it wasn’t enough for Philadelphia to take home the win. The Sixers fell to the Timberwolves 121-120.

Top 25 Shakeup Impending in Women’s College Basketball

No team was safe in the women’s game on Saturday, as several teams in the top 25 fell to unranked opponents. No. 16 Oregon State, No. 17 Florida State, No. 19 UCLA, and No. 22 West Virginia each dropped their matchups. Additionally, No. 7 Stanford beat No. 2 Maryland 86-67.

Northern Iowa Stuns No. 16 St. Bonaventure

The Panthers beat a ranked team for the first time since 2019 on Saturday as they topped the No. 16 Bonnies 90-80. Northern Iowa’s junior guard AJ Green put up 35 in the win.
