Serena Williams, Venus Williams Among First TMRW Golf League Ownership Group

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Golf League (TGL) has announced the formation of its first of six team ownership groups. Seven Seven Six’s founder Alexis Ohanian, Serena Williams, and Venus Williams have teamed up to create the Los Angeles Golf Club. Ohanian and Serena Williams are already co-owners of NWSL club Angel City FC, making their impact in the LA sports scene permanent. TGL currently has five of the top-10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking on its roster of players. Those individuals have combined for 28 major championships, 188 PGA Tour victories and 865 weeks at world No. 1. League play is scheduled to begin in January 2024.

Telfar Announces End to Popular Bag Security Program

Fans of the luxury handbag line Telfar will be delighted to know the brand will launch the fifth edition of its Bag Security Program from June 16-18, but it will be the last time the highly sought-after pieces will be available via the pre-order option. The program allows anyone to secure one of the coveted “Bushwick Birkins,” by placing an order for any color or size for the bags ,which routinely sell out. Reasons behind the brand’s decision are due in part to Telfar searching for alternative ways to offer its beloved products outside of the drop model. In addition, Telfar plans to open a number of physical stores in 2024.

Gucci Taps MLB for New Collection

Gucci and Major League Baseball are back with a brand new collection. The fresh drop boasts bright hues and a mix of contemporary and retro silhouettes in an upscale athletic vibe. Pieces in the capsule include tees, cardigans, socks, with outerwear consisting of a nylon and varsity jacket. Accessories consist of a multicolored “GG” necklace, gold wire-rim frames, and a pair of sporty sunglasses.

Drake Leads 2023 BET Award Nominations With Seven Nods

This year’s nominations for the BET Awards were officially announced. Drake leads the pack with seven chances to take home hardware, including best male hip–hop artist, best male R&B/pop artist and best group with 21 Savage. Behind Drizzy with six noms to her name is newcomer GloRilla, who could win a trophy for best female hip-hop artist, best new artist, album of the year for Anyways, Life’s Great, video of the year, and best collaboration for her features with Hitkidd and Cardi B. The ceremony will air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, June 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET. This year’s festivities will also celebrate 50 years of hip-hop.

NBC Sports Boss Pete Bevacqua Headed to Notre Dame

Notre Dame’s longtime Athletic Director is officially stepping down from his role. Jack Swarbrick will leave the university in 2024 and will be replaced by NBC Sports chairman Pete Bevacqua. Swarbrick, 69, will mentor Bevecqua, 51, in the lead up to the changing of the guards. “It has been my privilege to work alongside Jack Swarbrick as he led Notre Dame to unprecedented success over the past 15 years while providing such an influential voice in college athletics, and I’m excited that we have such a talented and experienced leader in Pete Bevacqua to spend some time learning under Jack before assuming new leadership in one of America’s most storied athletic programs,” University of Notre Dame President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C said of the announcement.

DJ Khaled to Host First-Ever We the Best Foundation Golf Classic

DJ Khaled is set to host his inaugural golf tournament for his We the Best Foundation. Sponsored by Jordan Brand, the event is scheduled for June 20 at the Miami Beach Golf Club. “Just to be out on the golf course with close friends and family of mine is a blessing. Giving back makes it even better,” the avid golfer said in a statement. Attendees can expect to rub elbows with Khaled’s celebrity pals, VIP sponsors, and other special guests. Following the tournament, there will be an awards ceremony that afternoon.
