Logan Paul & KSI’s Prime Inks First-ever Athlete Ambassadors

Amidst their laundry list of ventures, Logan Paul and KSI’s lifestyle beverage brand Prime drove $250 million in sales last year. Now, the official drink of the UFC is teaming up with top-tier fighters Israel Adesanya and Alex Volkanovski. The company inked the two as its first-ever athlete ambassadors. As part of the partnership, Adesanya and Volkanovski are expected to be part of Prime’s upcoming content and campaigns.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” Posts Second Highest Opening Weekend in 2023

The latest installment of the Spider-Man series has soared into theaters with high expectations. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which features an all-star cast including Issa Rae, Brian Tyree Henry, Daniel Kaluuya, and more, logged the second-highest grossing opening weekend thus far in 2023. The film brought in $120.5 million in ticket sales domestically and an additional $88.1 million internationally. It falls just short of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which netted $146 million domestically in its opening weekend.

UEFA World Champions League Final to Kick off with Burna Boy, Anitta, & Alesso Performances

The UEFA World Champions League Final kicks off this upcoming weekend. Burna Boy, Anitta, and Alesso will each take the stage to celebrate one of the biggest international men’s soccer events. The three will headline The Kick Off Show, which will precede the Champions League match-up between Manchester City and Inter Milan. Past performers at the major music event have included Dua Lipa and Camila Cabello. This year’s match will take place at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium.

Spotify Turns Tides on Major Podcast Investment with Workforce Cuts

Spotify went all in on the podcast revolution, acquiring major production companies including Gimlet Media, The Ringer, and Parcast. Now the streaming music giant has signaled a change in strategy. On Monday, the Swedish company announced that it will lay off 200 positions as it shifts its strategy to be more creator-centric. Sahar Elhabashi, the company’s head of podcasts, wrote in an internal memo: “We are expanding our partnership efforts with leading podcasters from across the globe with a tailored approach optimized for each show and creator.” Additionally, the company will combine Parcast and Gimlet into one production division, which will create original content.

Netflix Zooms in on the Highs and Lows of Florida Gators Football for New Documentary

The legacy of the 2006-2009 Florida Gators football team is a complicated one. The team logged two National Championships but did not lack for off-field drama. Now, Netflix has announced a new documentary that will dive deep into the experiences of the team throughout the era. Swamp Kings will be released on Aug. 23 by the streaming giant, and highlight head coach Urban Meyer, star QB Tim Tebow, and the challenges confronted by standout tight end Aaron Hernandez.

Snoop Dogg Stands in Solidarity with Writers Strike, Postpones ‘Doggystyle’ Anniversary Show

Last month, Snoop Dogg spoke out in support of the writers striking for fair compensation while on a panel as part of the Milken Institutes’ Global Conference. Now, the rapper and entrepreneur is stepping up in solidarity once more. He announced the postponement of the upcoming Doggystyle 30th Anniversary concert. Snoop took to his IG stories, where he said, “Me and Dr. Dre stand in solidarity with the writers. So what we gonna do is push it back to October 20 and October 21. So make sure y’all get your tickets and stay on point and stay on deck.” The shows were originally scheduled for June 27-28 at the Hollywood Bowl. He also sent food trucks to feed WGA protesters at Paramount Studios.
