'Succession,’ ‘The Bear' Win Big at 2024 Golden Globes

Awards season is upon us. The Golden Globes kicked off the series of events on Sunday with a star-studded affair in Los Angeles. The breakout Hulu hit The Bear took home Best Comedy for its sophomore season, while the show’s stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri also took home trophies. Succession also had a big night, taking home Best Drama and securing awards for Sarah Snook and Kieran Culkin. On the movie side, Oppenheimer and Barbie continued their collective domination, taking home multiple awards each.

Mark Cuban Announces $35M in Bonuses for Dallas Mavericks Staff

The ink is barely dry on Mark Cuban’s sale of the majority of his ownership rights of the Dallas Mavericks. However, the billionaire is already ensuring that the franchise will not forget him — and not only due to his continued 27% stake in the team. To commemorate the sale, Cuban doled out $35 million in bonuses to Mavericks employees and staff. In an email, he announced the bonus, saying, “As a thank you for all your hard work making the Mavs an amazing organization, each of you will be receiving a bonus from myself, and the Adelson and Dumont families.”

Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz Prepare for Brooklyn Museum Exhibition Opening

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz have always been an iconic couple. Now, the two music superstars are bringing their personal art collection to the public. The two announced that they have lent 100 pieces of Black art to the Brooklyn Museum. The collection will serve as the center for the upcoming “Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys.” It features works by Kehinde Wiley, Deborah Roberts, and Derrick Adams. It is not Swizz Beatz’ first affiliation with the Museum. He previously served on the board, but stepped down as planning for the exhibition began as to avoid any potential conflicts of interest. The exhibt will open on Feb. 10. 

Jadaveon Clowney Bags $750K Incentive

The NFL playoff picture is locked in. The Baltimore Ravens are playoff-bound. However, Jadaveon Clowney had a little extra to celebrate over the weekend as he locked in a $750,000 bonus as he secured his ninth sack on the season. Clowney also took in an extra $500,000 for playing in more than 50% of the Ravens’ defensive series throughout the year.

Soundcloud Reportedly Seeking $1B Price Tag with Impending Sale

Soundcloud is heading to market. According to a report from Sky over the weekend, the Swedish music streaming service will seek a sale in the coming months. Raine Group and Temasek Holdings, each of which hold substantial shares in the company, have approached investment banks about leading the effort. The move comes after a financially strong 2023 in which the company posted a profit for the first time, and saw its annual revenues rise nearly 10%. A source familiar with the conversations indicated that Soundcloud may seek a purchase price of greater than $1 billion.
