VeeCon Reveals Lineup for First-of-its-kind NFT Event
VeeCon unveiled its full slate of speakers and performers for what is being billed “Coachella for NFTs.” The lineup includes everyone from Baron Davis to GMoney, Beeple to Boardroom‘s co-founder and co-CEO Rich Kleiman. The event is the first-ever, NFT-ticketed festival and is open to VeeFriends holders. It is set to take place May 19-22 in Minneapolis.
Super Bowl Ticket Prices Drop While Parking Spots Surge
Heading to SoFi Stadium in a few weeks for the big game? It’s no surprise that it’ll set you back some serious cash; however, observers are beginning to notice that the distribution of costs is getting a little strange. While the ticket prices for the game itself have started to decrease – the cheapest being about $600 – the prices of parking spots in the surrounding neighborhoods have begun to skyrocket. Arash Markazi reports that spots within 1.5 miles of the stadium are available online, and run up to nearly $500 at a nearby medical center. A local broker anticipates that the prices will continue to climb in the run up to Feb. 13.
Ben Simmons Joins NFT eSports Org Perion as Special Advisor
Last year, Ben Simmons‘ house made the rounds on the internet when the South Jersey Zillow listing revealed the 76ers guard’s serious commitment to gaming – and interesting taste in countertops. Simmons, who is currently sitting out the current NBA season, has leveraged that love of gaming to join Perion as a special advisor and ambassador. The DAO enables pay-to-play gaming opportunities. The company recently completed a successful fundraising round and has tapped Simmons “to bring a new element to engaging gamers and continue to elevate cultural impact in the play to earn space” per a company release.
PJ Tucker Launches “Out Tha Mud” Converse Pro Leather Collab
The NBA’s foremost sneakerhead is back with a new collab. PJ Tucker has arguably the most notable sneaker collection in the game. Boardroom’s Nick DePaula caught up with the Miami Heat forward to discuss his most recent Converse collab, which draws on clean lines and simplicity in its design. Tucker’s Pro Leathers will be featured as the newest launch the “Chase The Drip” pack on both Converse.com and FootLocker.com.

WNBA Free Agency Special Coming to ESPN
ESPN has announced the network will air a WNBA Free Agency special on February 1st beginning at 5 p.m. on ESPN2. LaChina Robinson will host the panel and will be accompanied by Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo, former head coach Carolyn Peck, and Holly Rowe. The coverage will highlight major moves and potential impacts for each of the league’s teams. ESPN also plans to offer free agency grades at its completion.
Mobile Betting Goes Live in Louisiana
Sports betting went live for most of Louisiana on Friday with FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, BetRivers, Barstool, and BetMGM leading off as approved sportsbooks. But nine of the 64 provinces in the Bayou State elected not to approve this measure, with Jackson Parish voting sports betting down 50.7 to 49.3%. FanDuel’s first official bet was logged as a $20 two-leg parlay taking the Bengals ML (+285) and the Rams -3.5 (-110) for a potential payout of $147.
NBA Commemorates 75th Anniversary with All-Star Uniforms
For the first time in league history, the collective of performance brands under Nike Inc. – Nike, Jordan, and Converse – will each see their logos grace the trio of annual NBA All-Star Weekend games slated to be held in mid-February. Continuing on with the branding embellishments found on the four different “edition” jerseys worn throughout the current 75th annual regular season, the All-Star uniforms also feature a diamond texture treatment along with the brand logos in a nod to the league’s diamond anniversary. The shorts each incorporate a special edition “NBA75” logo as well.
Liquid Death Goes All In with Super Bowl Bet for a Good Cause
Liquid Death burst onto the scene in 2021. And now the canned water company announced it will be the first brand to bet on the Super Bowl. The company, which is backed by Tony Hawk, Wiz Khalifa, and Steve Aoki, will place a $50,000 wager on the games’s underdog and if the bet cashes, it plans donate half of the winnings to help kill plastic pollution.
Machine Gun Kelly Set to Headline NHL All-Star Game
The NHL All-Star Game is setting up to take over Sin City for the first time, and like all things in Vegas, it is set to be a spectacle. The announced on Friday that Machine Gun Kelly will headline the entertainment for the game, scheduled to take place on Feb. 5. MGK’s performance will take place during the second intermission and will be televised live as part of the national broadcast on ABC.
