Jake Paul is no stranger to the ringer, but now the YouTuber turned combat sports enthusiast is heading to the Professional Fighters League. Paul inked a multi-fight, multiyear deal with the outfit. Upon the announcement, Paul challenged MMA legend Nate Diaz to a fight. Along with his upcoming ventures into the ring, Paul will serve as the PFL’s head of fighter advocacy and assume a minority equity stake.

Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle Announce Joint-headlining Tour
Two of the best comics of their generation are heading out on the road together for a limited-run engagement. Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle announced a co-headlining tour. The five-stop run kicks off on Jan. 20 in Oklahoma City. Over the following week, they’ll hit St. Louis, Memphis, Birmingham, and North Charleston. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Jan. 6
Fanatics Selling Majority Stake in Candy Digital
Fanatics is kicking off 2023 with some changes. The company plans to sell its 60% majority stake in Candy Digital to Galaxy Digital. Founded in 2021, Candy Digital is best known for its exclusive partnership with the MLB. The deal was revealed via an internal email. In it, Fanatics boss Michael Rubin noted, “Over the past year, it has become clear that NFTs are unlikely to be sustainable or profitable as a standalone business.” Specific details of the deal are not known at this time.
Rafael Devers Lands Historic $331M Contract with the Red Sox
On Tuesday, Rafael Devers signed a one-year, $17.5 million deal with the Red Sox to avoid arbitration. On Wednesday, Devers and the Sox agreed to an 11-year, $331 million contract — making him the richest third baseman by total value in MLB history. As noted, the 26-year-old will still make $17.5 million in 2023, his final year of arbitration eligibility, before the big-money extension kicks in in 2024.

Winter Classic Earns Uptick in Viewership
The Winter Classic matchup at Fenway Park between the top-ranked Bruins and the Penguins averaged 1.778 million viewers on TNT. The total figure is up from last year and it’s the most-watched NHL regular season game ever on cable, and the most-watched game of the regular season. The NHL is heading to T-Mobile Park in Seattle for the 2024 edition, where the Kraken will face the Golden Knights.
Stephen Curry Doc Nets Sundance Premiere
It will be difficult for Stephen Curry to beat his 2022, but he will undoubtedly continue to build his already-locked legacy. His documentary Stephen Curry: Underrated will be screened at this year’s 2023 Sundance Film Festival. The film, described as “an intimate cinematic video” features archival footage and on-camera interviews highlighting his rise from an undersized player at Davidson College to a four-time NBA champion.
Anthony Hudson Tapped as USMNT Coach Amidst Berhalter Blackmail Controversy
Gregg Berhalter’s contract as the head of the USMNT ran out on Dec. 31, leaving questions as to whether or not he would continue his tenure with the team. Now, these questions have gotten only deeper as a domestic incident between Berhalter and his now-wife from their time at UNC surfaced. In a strange turn of events, it has been revealed that the source of that story was USMNT player Gio Reyna‘s mother, Danielle.
