Lionel Messi Surpasses 500M Instagram Followers

Messi’s MLS season is off to a solid start. The Argentinian superstar notched a goal in extra time to secure a 1-1 tie between Inter Miami and the LA Galaxy on Sunday. Plus, he also secured another milestone off the pitch. Messi surpassed 500 million Instagram followers, making him only the second person to do so. Cristiano Ronaldo became the first back in Nov. 2022, and now boasts 622 million followers.

Reddit Files Official Paperwork for IPO

Reddit is headed to the New York Stock Exchange. After much anticipation, the popular filed paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission and will be traded under RDDT. The site was founded in 2005 by Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian. It has a stated valuation of $10 billion, and the filing highlights at 20% increase in revenue year-over-year, totaling more than $800 million. Last week, it was revealed that Open AI CEO Sam Altman owns more than $60 million in shares of the company.

‘Bob Marley: One Love’ Continues Box Office Reign, Eclipses $120M

It was a quiet weekend at the box office, but the biopic Bob Marley: One Love continued to do work. The film brought in an additional $13.5 million across domestic box offices, as its global total surpassed $120 million. The film is a win for Paramount, which is currently courting prospective buyers. The total puts the film in the 25 highest-grossing biopics of all time.

AT&T Issues Formal Apology for Service Outage

Last week, AT&T mobile customers lost service in a widespread blackout. Now, the company’s top execs have issued a formal apology for the glitch in a letter to employees. The telecom company’s CEO John Stankey indicated that it will issue credit to customers to attempt to make up for the issue. The value of the credit will reflect “essentially a full day of service,” according to CNBC. Additionally, he noted that he is hopeful that it will not have an impact on the company’s financial projections for the year.

‘Past Lives’ Takes Top Honors at Independent Spirit Awards

IAwards season is winding down as we approach the crowning event — the 96th annual Academy Awards. Over the weekend, several films notched awards with both the Screen Actors Guild and the Independent Spirit Awards taking place. Past Lives took the best feature prize at Sunday’s Independent Spirit Awards. it is also nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. Oppenheimer was the top award winner at the SAG Awards, continuing its steady run and keeping as the favorite for Best Picture at the March 10 ceremony.
