LeBron James and Adam Sandler Netflix Film “Hustle” Gets Premiere

Adam Sandler got a bit of respect last year as footage broke of him holding his own against a full suite of NBA talent. The viral clip was caught while Sandler was shooting “Hustle,” the upcoming Netflix film, for which his Happy Madison Productions teamed up with LeBron James’ SpringHill. Yesterday, they dropped the official trailer for the film, which is set to premiere on June 10th, and features appearances from Anthony Edwards, Trae Young, Tobias Harris, and more.

NCAA Rules Out College Football Playoff Expansion

College football fans will have to wait a little longer for an expanded playoff structure. Despite early signs that the NCAA‘s governing body was leaning towards expanding from four to eight teams, the Board of Managers ruled on Friday to postpone that move until at least 2026.

JR Smith Teams Up with Complexity Gaming to Celebrate Black History Month

JR Smith’s journey to college is one of the most fun stories in sports. The North Carolina A&T golfer – and two-time NBA Champ – is teaming up with Complexity Gaming to host a  Call of Duty Warzone tournament for HBCU students. The tourney will be streamed on Twitch on February 28th and includes a prize pool includes $10,000.

Jalen Green Joins Kevin Durant as Coinbase’s Newest Athlete Partner

Jalen Green is no stranger to doing things his own way. The Houston Rockets rookie – and frontrunner to win the dunk competition – bypassed the NCAA and entered the NBA as the No. 2 pick in the 2021 Draft via the G League. On Friday, Green became Coinbase‘s newest athlete partner. As part of the collaboration, Green will help educate the next generation of the crypto curious about how they can leverage alternative currency as a tool for a secure financial future. Additionally, he’ll collaborate with Coinbase on an exclusive line of NFTs.

Allen Iverson and Tracy McGrady Go Head-to-Head in Verzuz Highlight Battle

In the beginning of the pandemic times, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz created the ongoing series Verzuz. The epic battles, which have featured everyone from Monica and Brandy to Nelly and Ludacris, have provided endless hours of entertainment. This weekend, the battle took to the NBA stage. Last night Allen Iverson and Tracy McGrady squared off in a highlight Verzuz battle. McGrady was hot off the announcement of his upcoming one-on-one basketball league, which will tip off next summer and feature a $250,000 prize. 

Panini Signs G League Star Jaden Hardy To Exclusive Autograph Trading Card Deal

Ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend officially tipping off in Cleveland with the new-look Rising Stars Challenge, Panini America announced they have signed an exclusive autograph trading card deal with NBA G League star Jaden Hardy, who will participate in tonight’s competition. The Rising Stars Challenge is debuting a new format that features NBA rookies and sophomores as well as members of the G League Ignite development team competing in a four-team, three-game tournament to decide a winner.

Fila Steps into the Metaverse

Following in the footsteps of Nike, Puma, adidas, and more, Fila has become the most recent company to prepare to enter the metaverse. The streetwear and sneaker company filed a trademark for a wide range of virtual goods such as clothing, footwear, and sporting equipment, as trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis first reported.
