As the year-end accolades begin to trickle in, GQ has already handed out one of their top honors. On Wednesday, the publication named Pharrell Williams as its 2024 Designer of the Year. Creative director of Louis Vuitton Men, Pharrell told GQ editor-in-chief Will Welch that since stepping into his role nearly two years ago, he’s actually had more time to make more chart-toppers. “The Vuitton appointment has centralized me in a place where I can do more music. You’ve been to the music studio within the design studio [in Paris],” he explained. Pharrell also opened up about the inspiration behind the Cowboy collection, other designers he’s a fan of, and collabing with Tyler, the Creator on a capsule this year.

The motivation to win this year’s NBA Cup just intensified. According to USA Today NBA reporter Jeff Zillgitt, players on losing quarterfinals teams will pocket $51,497, and players on losing semifinals teams will take home $102,994. NBA Cup runners-up will leave with $205,988, and finally, players who eventually win the NBA Cup get bragging rights and a bonus of $514,970.

Per a Wednesday exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, Snoop Dogg has a new jewelry line called Lovechild. The veteran rapper told the outlet that he chose the name because “I felt like the world is so full of anger and negativity and division, and I know that I lead with love.” He developed the line in collaboration with the jewelry brand Metal Alchemist and gamma., the music and media company with which Snoop has a partnership. The collection, which includes necklaces, bracelets, and rings, will be available via pre-sale at Snoop.Love. The announcement marks a busy month for Snoop, who dropped new music last week and is prepping for Christmas Eve’s first-ever Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl. 

Adding to her list of massive brand deals, JuJu Watkins shared via Instagram that she has her own Pop! with Funko and is the company’s first-ever active NCAA athlete with a custom collectible. The doll has the star guard dressed in her USC Trojans home uniform, complete with Watkins’ signature bun. The Pop! retails for $20 and is available exclusively at funko.com from Nov. 13-Nov. 27. The No. 3 Trojans look to stay undefeated as they prepare to take on Santa Clara this Friday.

In an effort to compete with other bargain retailers, Amazon unveiled a new marketplace of apparel,  home goods, electronics, and other goods priced below $20 on Wednesday. Amazon Haul will feature longer-than-usual delivery times but will save consumers a few dollars in the run-up to the holiday season. The new platform is available in Amazon’s shopping app and mobile website.

Coldplay announced Wednesday plans to play its “biggest-ever” concert next year at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India, which boasts a capacity for up to 132,000 attendees. This is the band’s fourth show in India for its Music of the Spheres world tour, and they’ve promised a “mystery guest.” Tickets go on sale Saturday at noon in India, exclusively at online ticketing platform Bookmyshow.

Lacrosse will take center stage at the 2028 Summer Olympics. Ahead of the event, the Premier Lacrosse League is expanding its property into the women’s game. The PLL has launched the Women’s Lacrosse League (WLL), a new organization that will see some of the best players in the world compete at the pro level. Per the release, the WLL will debut during the 2025 PLL Championship Series next February. The format will see four teams playing in the Olympic Sixes format, competing for the inaugural WLL Championship Series trophy. The four teams, home cities, and players will be announced at a later date.

With millions abandoning X, another alternative is slowly gaining traction. On Wednesday, Bluesky developer Jaz shared that the app officially has 15 million users, adding a million just within the past week. The company’s COO, Rose Wang, told The Verge that the “majority” of subscribers signing up for the platform are from the US. In recent months, Bluesky has added several new features to make it a more direct competitor to X, including video posting, pinned posts, and custom fonts. Unlike X, Bluesky features “anti-toxicity” protocols that permit users to perform actions like detaching their handle from a post when another user quotes them.
