Entering Week 3 of the NFL season, Sportico dropped its list of the highest-paid players of 2024. Coming in at No. 1 is Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, who, on the heels of signing a $240 million contract extension this offseason, will take home $100.3 million in total earnings between salary/bonus and endorsements. Detroit Lions play-caller Jared Goff ($85.6 million) and Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love ($81.5 million) rank second and third, respectively, while Kansas City Chiefs Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes ($72.8 million) and Cincinnati Bengals signal caller Joe Burrow ($69.7 million) round out the top five.

Soccer fans tuning into the UEFA Champions League action will soon be able to hear direct commentary from one of the GOATs of the game. David Beckham and Paramount+ have agreed to a two-year deal in which the retired England international will provide commentary on an alternate telecast. A Champions League winner with Manchester United, Beckham will be “joined by his friends from the worlds of sports, media and entertainment,” Variety writes. Beckham and Friends will be listed as a new viewing option for Paramount+ subscribers and will broadcast during the UEFA Champions League Semifinal Leg 2 matches and the UEFA Champions League Final next spring.

Sunday’s 76th Emmy Awards recorded nearly 7 million viewers on ABC, a 54% spike from the record-low viewership from 2023. Last year’s broadcast aired late in January 2024 after a four-month delay due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, recording an audience of 4.3 million viewers. The biggest winner from this year’s program was Shōgun, taking home a record 18 Emmy Awards for its debut season — the most ever for a show in a single year — including wins for Best Drama, Best Lead Actor, and Best Lead Actress in a Drama.

The two-time defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces have already sold out of season ticket memberships for the 2025 season, the team recently shared. The Aces become the first franchise to do so in back-to-back seasons, as well as the first team to do it before the conclusion of the current campaign. Las Vegas added that 92% of 2024 season ticket members renewed, while the remaining 8% of the season passes were sold to fans who were on the 2025 waitlist.

A documentary chronicling both the history of the Parisian label Mugler and the Maison’s direction under Creative Director Casey Cadwallader is arriving. Titled Inside the Dream: Mugler, the release says key moments audiences can expect are Mugler’s 50-year-long history of dressing A-list celebs and a behind-the-scenes look into Cadwallader’s SS24 presentation. Directed by Matthieu Menu, the 60-minute presentation airs in France on Canal+ on Sept. 25 and will become available on Prime Video and other global channels shortly after.

The 2024 Paris Olympics proved to be a ratings boom for Peacock, as the streaming platform went from 1.5% of TV usage in July to 2.1% for the August cycle, per Nielsen. The mark is an all-time high for Peacock, which over the last 12 months only averaged about 1.3% of all TV use. The two weeks of Olympics coverage also fueled an 8% increase in TV use month over month. However, YouTube once again dominated all individual streaming platforms and clinched more than 10% of all TV viewing for the second consecutive month.

Kevin Liles, Chairman and CEO of Warner Music Group’s 300 Entertainment, will leave the company, according to an internal note to staff obtained by Billboard. While Liles’ tenure as chief executive will conclude at the end of the month, he plans to remain as a consultant through the year’s end. Founded in 2014, 300 Entertainment helped to launch the careers of musicians like Megan Thee Stallion, Migos, Young Thug, Gunna, and others. As for Liles’ successor, WMG CEO Robert Kyncl has opted not to fill the position and will instead turn his trust to Co-Presidents Rayna Bass and Selim Bouab, as well as Elektra President Gregg Nadel.

For Soccer dropped its 2023-24 United States of Soccer report and it’s clear the game’s popularity continues to grow both worldwide and stateside. Five of the top 10 favorite women’s players are Americans, with six of them playing in the NWSL. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain supporters are 55% more likely than all soccer fans to see fashion as a reason to start following a particular club. Finally, PSG boasts the youngest average fan age among the top 15 most popular clubs, which is 33.7 years.
