Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler to Battle Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka in Vegas Match
Two of the biggest names on the PGA Tour, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, have agreed to compete against LIV Golf stars Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in Las Vegas in mid-December, Golfweek exclusively revealed Wednesday. The unique event will air on TNT, which was responsible for producing The Match series that began when Tiger Woods battled Phil Mickelson in 2018. McIlroy, Koepka, and DeChambeau have all participated in previous editions of The Match, but as Golfweek writes, it’s unclear if this December match is a continuation of the series or not.
Golden State Valkyries, Chase Ink Multi-year Partnership
The WNBA’s newest expansion team, the Golden State Valkyries, and JPMorgan Chase have agreed to a multi-year partnership, making the financial services firm the Valkyries’ first founding partner. Chase Freedom will be the franchise’s shield uniform partner, and the logo will be visible on the Valkyries’ home and road uniforms beginning with its inaugural season in 2025. Excitement for the team’s arrival to the Bay Area is evident. Valkyries President Jess Smith said they already have more than 17,000 deposits for season tickets, which is a record for a women’s sports team in the US before its first season.
The Weeknd Reveals Title of Final Album of Trilogy: ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’
In a teaser shared to his 75 million Instagram followers Wednesday, The Weeknd confirmed the title of his new project will be Hurry Up Tomorrow. It’ll serve as the follow-up to his 2022 album Dawn FM, which he previously mentioned was the second installment in a trilogy of albums that began with After Hours in 2020. The announcement arrives shortly before the “Starboy” singer performs this weekend at Estádio Morumbi in São Paulo, Brazil. The event will also be streamed on YouTube in real-time.
De’Aaron Fox’s Signature Shoe Confirmed, Details Revealed
As Boardroom’s Nick DePaula noted when the two sides agreed to a deal last October, Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox will soon receive his own signature basketball shoe under Stephen Curry’s Curry Brand with Under Armour. The brand confirmed the upcoming Curry Fox 1 at the company media event in New York City on Tuesday, while footwear designer Ed Wallace revealed the shoe will feature a low-cut runner-style silhouette. Prior to joining Curry Brand, Fox was signed to Nike for five years.
Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson, Sophia Smith Among Ballon d’Or Féminin Nominees
Nominees for the 2024 Ballon d’Or Féminin award were announced Wednesday, and five members of the USWNT’s Olympic gold medal squad have been named to the shortlist. The trio of Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson, and Sophia Smith, as well as captain Lindsey Horan and goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, all received nods. In total, all 30 honorees represent 15 countries. The winner will be announced on Oct. 28 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
Haider Ackermann Named Creative Director of Tom Ford
Tom Ford has found their next Creative Director in Haider Ackermann, the American luxury brand confirmed Wednesday via Instagram. In the post, founder Tom Ford said he has long been a fan of Ackermann’s work in both menswear and womenswear collections and looks forward to supporting him at his debut show in March. From 2016 to 2018, Ackermann was the Creative Director at Berluti, where he helped introduce a womenswear line to what had previously been a menswear-only brand.

Wasserman has acquired talent representation company Long Haul Management, naming its CEO and founder Dan Levitt as its new SVP of Creators. As a part of the deal, all Long Haul staff and clients are joining “Wasserman Creators,” the talent representation sector that launched in October 2023. Founded in 2013, Long Haul connects brands with creators in the sports, gaming, and lifestyle space. Fresh off a bronze medal win at the 2024 Summer Olympics, US rugby player Ilona Maher is taking her talents to the ballroom as the newest cast member for Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars.
