The WNBA Makes Delta its Official Airline in Expanded Partnership
Delta Airlines and the WNBA have agreed to a multi-year deal that makes the Georgia-based company the official airline partner of the league. This is an expanded partnership that began in May when the W agreed to make Delta the primary airline tasked with flying all 12 of the W’s teams throughout the regular season and playoffs. Monday’s press release adds that this official agreement with Delta will “leverage elevated, travel-related storytelling opportunities through WNBA media, including broadcast, digital, print, and social media.”
Travis Scott’s ‘Days Before Rodeo’ is Returning to Streaming Platforms
Travis Scott celebrated the 10th anniversary of his sophomore mixtape — Days Before Rodeo — on Sunday, telling his 57 million Instagram followers that he’s bringing the beloved project to streaming platforms. Fans can listen to the album this Friday, with Scott adding that he might include unreleased songs “from that era, from the vault.” In addition to the re-release, Scott’s official website is commemorating the anniversary with a limited set of vinyl editions of the project, with additional bundle options that include hats, shirts, and hoodies.
Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn Among Stars Heading to DNC
The Democratic National Convention begins Monday, and a number of stars are heading to Chicago to support Vice President Kamala Harris. Per CNN, Kerry Washington, Mindy Kaling, Tony Goldwyn, and Ana Navarro will each serve as hosts for one night of the convention. The celebrity hosts will also help usher attendees in the event hall and on television through the programming throughout the week. Washington will host Thursday’s programming, during which Harris will officially accept the Democratic nomination.
NVIDIA’s AI Stake Targeted by AMD, ZT Systems Deal
The AI boom has spawned competition as companies try to come for a stake in NVIDIA’s stronghold on the AI chip market. Advanced Micro Devices released a statement on Monday highlighting its acquisition of New Jersey-based ZT Systems. The deal seeks to expand AMD’s capacity to develop AI technologies and positions the company as a meaningful competitor for NVIDIA’s market share. The deal is valued at $4.9 billion and includes an immediate cash transfer of $400 million.
Disney Stays on Top as ‘Alien: Romulus” Posts $108M Global Opener
Disney has single-handedly revived the Hollywood box office this summer. Alien: Romulus surged to the top of the box office, taking down Deadpool & Wolverine from the No. 1 spot. Collectively, the new film took in $108 million globally and rounds out a massive summer for Disney. The company accounts for 42% of the global box office totals from the combination of Inside Out 2, Deadpool & Wolverine, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and Alien: Romulus.
