Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the animated series South Park, have reportedly agreed to a $1.5 billion global streaming rights deal with Paramount, marking the first time the adult comedy will be available on the Paramount+ streaming platform. According to The Los Angeles Times, the five-year contract is valued at $300 million annually and covers only streaming rights. Season 27 of South Park premieres on Wednesday on Paramount-owned Comedy Central.

Patrick Soon-Shiong, the billionaire owner of the Los Angeles Times, confirmed Monday that he plans to take the newspaper public. Adding that the shift will take place “over the next year,” the surgeon-turned-entrepreneur did not elaborate on the details or discuss whether this would reduce his control of the publication. Dr. Soon-Shiong purchased the L.A. Times in 2018 for $500 million from Tronc, a print and online media company.

The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game was the most-watched program across all of television last Saturday night, with ESPN adding that it recorded one of the best viewership totals since the game’s inception. Team Collier’s 151-131 win over Team Clark averaged 2.2 million viewers on ABC, second only to last year’s 3.44 million total. This is the second consecutive year the W has drawn a seven-figure audience.

A Taylor Swift docuseries is coming to the UK’s Channel 4, per a Tuesday Deadline exclusive. The two-part program delves into rare archives that “will reveal fresh insights into Taylor and her story as the series charts her journey from ambitious teen with towering dreams to one of the most influential and scrutinised figures of our time.” No word on release date, but Guy King has been tasked with directorial duties.

Kim Kardashian‘s SKIMS is expanding its reach in women’s sports through a new partnership with League One Volleyball (LOVB), serving as the official loungewear, intimates, and sleepwear partner of the growing league founded in 2020. The deal also means SKIMS, which also has a partnership with Nike, will play an active role in growing the LOVB community, including athlete-driven events and leaguewide activations.

The Weeknd and Shakira will headline the 2025 Global Citizen Festival, the advocacy organization revealed Tuesday. Also confirmed to perform are Tyla, Ayra Starr, and Mariah the Scientist. The festival is scheduled for Sept. 27 on Central Park’s Great Lawn, with Global Citizen ambassador Hugh Jackman hosting.

The first-ever Olympic and Paralympic Games in the Middle East could be coming next decade, with the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) announcing on Tuesday that it is in “ongoing discussions” with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the staging of the 2036 Summer Games. As if he isn’t busy enough, Dior Creative Director Jonathan Anderson has signed on as costume designer in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming project, Artificial. Labeled as an “AI comedy,” the story is loosely based on OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, the creator of ChatGPT. The film has no release date.

Interparfums SA has inked a long-term fragrance license with Longchamp, running through Dec. 31, 2036, to create the latter’s first-ever fragrance line. Interparfums SA will develop, produce, and distribute fragrances on behalf of the luxury bag designer, with the debut drop scheduled for 2027. Interparfums also boasts fragrance licenses with notable brands such as Boucheron, Jimmy Choo, Moncler, and Montblanc.

Sofia Coppola will debut her latest project, Marc by Sofia, at the 2025 Venice Film Festival in a non-competition slot. Chronicling the life of designer Marc Jacobs, this marks the veteran filmmaker’s first documentary effort. The two have a decades-long friendship, with Jacobs even collaborating with Coppola on bag collections and directing a campaign for his Daisy Dream perfume. The Venice Film Festival will take place from Aug. 27 to Sept. 9.
