Adidas, MLS Launch Throwback-themed Archive Collection
Five MLS clubs will wear specially designed nostalgic third jerseys from league kit sponsor Adidas for the remainder of the 2024 season. The Three Stripes tapped in Lionel Messi and more as it rolled out its inaugural Adidas x MLS Archive Collection for Inter Miami FC, LA Galaxy, LAFC, Portland Timbers, and Sporting Kansas City. The designs draw inspiration from the retro appeal of sports broadcasting, advertising, and magazines and arrive in the form of jerseys, jackets, and Adidas Gazelle sneakers.
Pitbull to Headline WNBA All-Star Game Halftime Show
Ahead of this weekend’s festivities, Phoenix Mercury owner Mat Ishbia confirmed Tuesday that Pitbull will perform at halftime during Saturday’s WNBA All-Star Game. “I was raised by a woman, and a woman made me a man. It’s an honor to make history and perform at the WNBA All-Star Game,” said Pitbull of the opportunity. Next month, the Grammy Award-winning superstar will kick off his Party After Dark Tour, visiting 25 cities across the US with special guests T-Pain and Lil Jon (for select shows).

Disney, Netflix, Max Lead the Way in Record Streaming Viewership
Per Nielsen’s latest Gauge report, streaming accounted for 40.3% of all television usage in the United States last month, making it not only the highest proportion of streaming viewership ever documented in the three years Nielsen began tracking but also the best performance for any single category of viewership. The milestone previously belonged to cable, which reached 40.1% of television usage in June 2021. The four platforms to record double-digit usage improvement were Disney+ (+14.8%), Tubi (+14.7%), Netflix (+11.8%), and Max (+11.0%).
Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart to Host Central Park Block Party for Season 2 Launch of Podcast
Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart are throwing a block party in the Big Apple. On Sept. 7, the New York Knicks backcourt will bring their Roommates Show podcast to Central Park for a live taping with Jon Stewart, Stephon Marbury, Mikal Bridges, Action Bronson, and more. “It’s not just a live pod,” Hart said to Boardroom. “We’re gonna make sure it’s fun.” From music to banter, it’s more than a panel but actually a party. “This isn’t just a sit-down talk type of thing,” Brunson told Boardroom. “We want people to enjoy themselves.”
Kaytranada Set to Hit the Road for 'Timeless' Fall Tour
Kaytranada announced Tuesday that he’s going on tour in support of his most recent studio album, Timeless. The North American jaunt begins Sept. 14 in Vancouver with stops in Detroit, Boston, and Washington, DC, before wrapping up in Los Angeles on Oct. 26. Featured on Kaytranada‘s 21-track third studio album includes Don Toliver, Childish Gambino, Tinashe, and more.
Adidas Eyeing $1B for 2024 After Strong Second Quarter
Adidas shared promising preliminary results for Q2 on Tuesday, as profit rose 9% to €5.822 billion ($6.35 billion), forcing the company to upgrade its full-year guidance for the second time this year. Adidas credited “sell-throughs, reduced discounting, lower sourcing costs, and a more favorable category mix” as catalysts for the revenue surge. Three Stripes’ operating profit is now expected to reach €1.0 billion ($1.09 billion) after previous forecasts saw the company at roughly €700 million. The German sportswear giant is expected to release a more detailed report at the end of the month.

As the official mobile phone and content capture partner for the players, expect Google Pixel to have a larger footprint at events like the WNBPA Google Pixel Players’ Lounge at All-Star Weekend, the NWSL Players’ Party, and the USWNTPA Players’ Ball.
