Nominations for the 77th Emmy Awards were announced Tuesday, and Apple TV+’s Severance leads the pack with 27 total nods for its second season. Meanwhile, HBO Max thumps other platforms with a record total of 142, led by drama series The Penguin (24), The White Lotus (23), The Last of Us (16), and Hacks (14). First-time nominees include Harrison Ford (Shrinking), Adam Brody (Nobody Wants This), and Britt Lower and Tramell Tillman (Severance). Finally, two-time Emmy winner Kathy Bates, 77, became the oldest nominee ever in the lead drama actress category for her performance in CBS’s Matlock reboot.

The WNBA’s Portland expansion team is returning to its roots, bringing back the original Fire name from the early 2000s for the new-look team set to tip off in 2026. The franchise’s wordmark is influenced by the 12 bridges that connect the city, while one of its logos — a red ‘P’ — highlights the silhouette of Mount Hood, the highest point in Oregon. The other logo is a rose on fire, a tribute to Portland’s iconic flower and the team’s name. Team co-owner Lisa Bhatal Merage added that the franchise boasts nearly 11,000 season ticket deposits to date.

A new Eminem documentary titled Stans is headed to the big screen, set to play at 135 AMC theaters nationwide for a one-weekend engagement beginning Aug. 7. Named after the rapper’s 2000 hit about an obsessed fan, the Eminem-produced project chronicles the entertaining and frightening look at the modern nature of fandom, highlighting how social media has completely altered the relationship between artists and their supporters.

Data shared by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Tuesday show that the consumer price index rose by 0.3% on a month-over-month basis, putting the 12-month inflation rate at 2.7%. The cost of furniture and clothes increased by 0.1% in June, while car prices unexpectedly fell by 0.3%. Additionally, prices on food and medical care services increased by 0.3% and 0.6%, respectively. 

With WNBA All-Star Weekend nearly upon us, the league announced that the Fever’s Caitlin Clark and the Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu will take on defending champion, the Atlanta Dream’s Allisha Gray, in the 3-Point Contest on Friday. In its June Gauge report, Nielsen stated that broadcast TV slipped to a record-low 18.5% of overall viewing. Streaming, led by YouTube, Netflix, and Disney, accounted for 46% of viewing time, a 5.4% increase from May to June. Love Island USA accounted for a 13.4% jump in Peacock viewership, but the platform only netted 1.5% of overall viewing. 

Manchester City and Puma announced Tuesday a 10-year extension to their strategic partnership, ensuring the apparel brand continues to outfit the Premier League club with matchday kits for the men’s first team and Manchester City Women. Neither side revealed financial terms, but sources tell ESPN the deal is worth £1 billion ($1.3 billion) or £100 million a year, a significant pay raise from the £65 million a year contract they agreed to in 2019.

The hype for Christopher Nolan’s reimagination of The Odyssey is real, with Variety reporting that IMAX tickets for the action thriller are set to go on sale this Thursday, a full year before the picture hits theaters. The catch? Passes will only be available at venues with IMAX 70mm screens, Nolan’s preferred format, and not all showtimes will be available. Athletes vying for a medal at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic Winter Games officially know what the hardware looks like. Designed by the Italian State Mint and the Polygraphic Institute, the medals are made from recycled metal recovered from production waste and features two halves that combine to represent both Olympic and Paralympic values.

Von Dutch, which rose to prominence in the early 2000s within the apparel, footwear, and headgear space, is rebranding into a full-scale lifestyle brand. The company told WWD that it is entering the food, beverage, and hospitality space with the arrival of Von Dutch F&B. The debut launch features a line of organic, plant-based mocktails, spirits, and functional sodas, created in collaboration with Flavor House. Following that, a premium hydration line called Von Dutch Water.
