According to Sportico, the Spaniard tops this year’s highest-paid tennis players list with $45 million in total earnings, $15 million of that coming from prize money alone. Novak Djokovic sits in second with $38.7 million in total 2024 earnings ($12.7 million in prize money), while current No. 1 Jannik Sinner rounds out the top three at $25.7 million ($13.7 million in prize money). Coco Gauff ($25.6 million) and Iga Swiatek ($25.2 million) are next, leading the way as the highest-paid women’s tennis players of 2024 thus far.
NBA Reportedly Closes TV Deals with NBC, Amazon; ESPN; TNT Looms
The NBA‘s new media rights deal has garnered nearly as much, if not more, attention than free agency this offseason, but we may have finally reached a resolution. According to The Athletic, the NBA has finalized TV deals with NBC and Amazon‘s Prime Video, while keeping ABC/ESPN as the home of the NBA Finals. The new agreements are reportedly worth $76 billion collectively over 11 years. The next step is getting approval from the league’s governors, which The Athletic writes is “expected to be a formality.” However, TNT, entering the final year of its current media deal with the NBA, looms in the background with the ability to match.

It’s been less than a month since Inside Out 2 hit theaters, and it’s already become Pixar’s highest-grossing movie of all time by passing The Incredibles 2 with $1.251 billion earned worldwide. The sequel to the 2015 Pixar hit is also the fourth-highest-grossing animated film ever, with eyes on taking the No. 3 spot from Disney‘s Frozen II ($1.451 billion). For reference, the first Inside Out has made roughly $857.6 million globally.
Anthony Edwards & Adidas to Continue Strong Run with New Extension
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards and Adidas have reportedly agreed to a multi-year contract extension. While financial details aren’t known at this time, NBA insider Shams Charania writes that the deal “reaches eight figures annually” and cements the two-time All-Star as “a face of Adidas.” Edwards, who is coming off a season in which he led his team to the Western Conference Finals while flexing his first signature shoe in the AE 1, has been signed to Three Stripes since being the top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Italian sportswear brand LOTTO is launching its first pickleball collection at Dick’s Sporting Goods, its anchor retail partner for products stateside. To commemorate the upcoming 30th anniversary of Ready To Die, The Notorious B.I.G.‘s debut album, Rhino Records is reissuing the project on double vinyl. The re-imagined cover art features an image of Biggie Smalls, the late Brooklyn emcee’s G subway stop, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Ready To Die (30th Anniversary Edition) will be made available on Sept. 13, the release date of the original record.
CNN to Launch Digital Subscription Product in Newsroom Restructure
CNN will debut a digital subscription product later this year as it undergoes a transformation that will result in roughly 100 job cuts. In a memo to staffers, network chief executive Mark Thompson outlined a strategy to “streamline” how stories are pitched, focus more on video content, and monetize its digital users in a more useful method. With a goal of making the new digital business a billion-dollar one, Thompson also said CNN would invest more in its free ad-supported streaming options and explore artificial intelligence.

Nike released the U.S. Women’s National Team Reissue Collection on Wednesday in celebration of the USWNT‘s victory on home soil at the 1999 World Cup. The capsule includes jerseys, a track jacket, and pants and features retro notes with OG design motifs, embroidered elements, and the 1999 US Soccer crest. Warner Chappell Music and artist/producer Cash Cobain have agreed to a global publishing contract, Variety reported Wednesday. In a statement, Cash Cobain called the moment “huge” and added that he’s “looking forward to building the ‘Slizzy’ empire with WCM by my side.” His breakout single, “Fisherrr,” which features Ice Spice and Bay Swag, currently boasts 8 million streams on Spotify.
