Anna Wintour Steps Down as EIC of Vogue After Nearly 40 Years
After nearly four decades as the editor-in-chief of American Vogue, Anna Wintour is stepping down. The 75-year-old announced the news to staffers on Thursday, though she added that she isn’t leaving Condé Nast altogether, just scaling back her responsibilities. Wintour, who had been at the helm of Vogue since 1988, will remain the publisher’s Global Chief Content Officer, as well as Vogue’s Global Editorial Director. The next Head of Editorial Content will report to Wintour.
Adam Sandler to Hit the Road for Comedy Tour
Comedian Adam Sandler is going on a new tour this fall, his first since his I Missed You Tour that ran from October to December 2023. The You’re My Best Friend Tour begins Sept. 5 in Jacksonville, making stops in major cities like Philadelphia, Detroit, and Portland, before wrapping up with a two-night stint in Las Vegas on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. The tour will come on the heels of the release of Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2, set to drop on Netflix on July 25.
U.S. Economy Shrunk More Than Expected Last Quarter
Data released by the Commerce Department on Thursday revealed that the U.S. economy shrank at an annual rate of 0.5% in the first quarter, marking the largest decline since 2022. The agency’s initial Q1 GDP report, distributed in April, predicted a 0.3% decline, which was later corrected to a 0.2% dip in its second issue. Buyer spending also fell drastically, down to just 0.5% from a strong 4% in the fourth quarter of last year.

ESPN revealed the full list of nominees for the 2025 ESPYs on Wednesday, with top contenders including Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley, Caitlin Clark, Coco Gauff, Simone Biles, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ilona Maher, and Alexander Ovechkin. Gilgeous-Alexander and Allen are both nominated in the Best Athlete – Men’s Sports category, while Clark and A’ja Wilson are competing for the Best WNBA Player award. Meanwhile, incoming Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg and USC standout Juju Watkins are both nominated for Best College Athlete in men’s and women’s sports, respectively.
Emma Grede, Coco Gauff Team Up with UPS to Support Small Business
Businesswoman Emma Grede and tennis star Coco Gauff are teaming up with UPS on a campaign called “UPS Unlocking Potential,” during which Grede will coach up three emerging entrepreneurs — Classy Casita, Petrova Chocolates, and Anima Iris — to help elevate their small businesses. Grede is a founding partner of Skims and co-founder and CEO of Good American, while Gauff and UPS have been in business together since 2023.
Cooper Flagg Named Newest Hugo Boss Ambassador
Cooper Flagg rocked a Hugo Boss three-piece suit when he was selected No. 1 overall in Wednesday’s NBA Draft, which was a fitting choice as the brand’s newest U.S. ambassador. This marks a major milestone for Boss, dressing back-to-back No. 1 picks following its partnership with Cam Ward at the NFL Draft. According to TMZ, Flagg’s Italian stretch wool set, paired with a slim-fit shirt and a silk jacquard tie, was valued at over $1,200.
Nike Looking Ahead After Sales Drop in Quarterly Report
Nike‘s stock fell by over 2% in after-hours trading after the company reported a 12% drop in sales to $11.1 billion in its quarterly report. Even so, the Swoosh was still able to top analysts’ low expectations and promises that the worst is behind them, as CEO Elliott Hill continues to clear out inventory and reinvent its digital business. “Moving forward, we expect our business to improve as a result of the progress we’re making,” Hill said.
Amazon MGM Studios Names ‘James Bond’ Director
Amazon MGM Studios has found its director for the next James Bond film — Denis Villeneuve, the filmmaker behind the Dune series. The Canadian-born director is a four-time Academy Award nominee, including for Best Director for Arrival in 2016, and promises “to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come.” Amazon, which first bought MGM in 2021 for $8.5 billion, acquired the rights to the famous film franchise in March.
Disney Confirms ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Sequel In the Works
Prepare to watch more of Stitch’s antics, because Disney confirmed Thursday that a sequel to the blockbuster Lilo & Stitch is officially in the works. Still in theaters, the live-action iteration of the 2002 animated feature has made over $910 million worldwide since Memorial Day Weekend, on track to become this year’s first billion-dollar movie.
Portland WNBA Expansion Team Surpasses 10K Season Ticket Deposits
The Portland WNBA expansion team shared Thursday that it has surpassed 10,000 season ticket deposits. Set to tip off in 2026, the team will play its home games at the Moda Center in downtown Portland. The team is expected to reveal more details surrounding the franchise’s name, logo, and more on July 15.
