Skylar Diggins-Smith Teams Up with Just Women's Sports on New Content Series

Just Women’s Sports announced Wednesday it has linked up with Seattle Storm star Skylar Diggins-Smith on a new premium content program exploring some of the most prolific stories in women’s sports. While the title hasn’t been announced yet, we do know the six-episode show will delve into how female athletes are treated and covered in today’s media climate. An official announcement from JWS with more on the stories featured in the series will be shared once this season’s WNBA and NWSL Championships conclude.

Kendrick Lamar Announces Surprise Concert in LA

In a surprise announcement on Wednesday, Kendrick Lamar will perform at the Kia Forum on June 19 in a show he’s calling The Pop Out Ken & Friends. The concert, presented by Kendrick‘s production company pgLang and Free Lunch, will feature special guests, although specific artists have not yet been announced. As of Wednesday, Lamar’s recent single “Not Like Us” still sits at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, despite dropping over a month ago.

HanesBrands to Sell Champion to Authentic for $1.2B

HanesBrands is set to sell its sportswear label Champion to Authentic Brands Group in a deal valued at $1.2 billion. The release added the acquisition could reach $1.5 billion through an additional cash contingent consideration of up to $300 million if performance thresholds are met. Authentic Brands holds a wide range of clothing lines in its portfolio, including Aeropostale, Eddie Bauer, Forever 21, and Ted Baker.

Disney to Invest $17B in Florida Theme Parks

Disney is prepared to invest up to $17 billion into its Florida property, possibly making way for a fifth major theme park at Walt Disney World. The company got initial approval on Wednesday for a new deal that would authorize Disney to construct two minor parks in addition to the fifth amusement park within the next decade or two. Disney may also increase the number of hotel rooms from almost 40,000 rooms to more than 53,000 while also expanding the amount of retail and restaurant space by more than 20%. A final vote will take place next week.

Ice Spice Announces 'Y2K' Release Date & World Tour

Hours after announcing the release of her debut album Y2K dropping July 26, Ice Spice shared via Instagram that she’s also embarking on a world tour to support the record. The tour begins on July 4 in Roskilde, Denmark, and the Grammy Award nominee will be joined by longtime producer RIOTUSA and fellow Bronx rapper Cash Cobain for the North American leg starting July 30 in Washington, DC.

Prime Video to Peel Back the Curtain in NHL Docuseries

Amazon‘s Prime Video announced Wednesday plans to drop a docuseries that promises “unprecedented access” to life in the NHL, its biggest franchises, and most interesting players at various stages of their careers as they compete to win the Stanley Cup. Players starring in the series include Connor McDavid, Matthew Tkachuk, Leon Draisaitl, David Pastrnak, and more. A title and release date will be announced later.
