Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Kirk Franklin, and Snoop Dogg will be recognized with the Ultimate Icon Award during next month’s BET Awards, the network announced Wednesday. Past recipients of this honor include Janet Jackson (2015), Deborah L. Lee (2018), and Tyler Perry (2019). All four will also perform during the June 9 live broadcast, which Kevin Hart will host.

Those attending Fanatics Fest NYC will have the chance to catch a live taping of The Shop on Saturday, June 21. Featuring hosts LeBron James, Maverick Carter, and Paul Rivera, they’ll be joined by Tom Brady, Victor Wembanyama, and Kai Cenat. Throughout the three-day event, attendees will also have the opportunity to visit The Shop consumer activation, enjoy a proper barbershop and manicure experience, and purchase The Shop grooming products.

Nvidia beat expectations in its quarterly report on Wednesday, with revenue growing 69% during the quarter to over $44 billion. Additionally, Nvidia’s data center division, which includes artificial intelligence chips, grew year-over-year by 73% to $39.1 billion. Nvidia’s stock rose roughly 4% in after-hours trading at the time of this writing.

Russell Westbrook has a new role: Creative Director for the new sports-centered entertainment district in downtown Oklahoma City. Westbrook will design the new area alongside architecture studio Populous, with Echo Investment Capital, Russell Westbrook Enterprises, and Robinson Park developing the project. It will be located just north of the Oklahoma River and feature retail, dining, public spaces, and the new stadium for Oklahoma City Energy FC, a United Soccer League team. 

E.l.f. Beauty is acquiring Hailey Bieber’s skincare brand, Rhode, in a deal worth up to $1 billion — $800 million in cash and stock, plus an additional potential $200 million performance-based payout. Bieber will remain in her role as founder while taking on the responsibilities of Rhode’s Chief Creative Officer and Head of Innovation. She will also act as a strategic advisor to the combined brands. The deal is expected to close later this year.

As Wrexham AFC inch closer to Premier League potential, the Emmy-winning docuseries following the team has been renewed for Season 5. Currently in its fourth season, Welcome to Wrexham on FX chronicles the 2024-25 EFL League One season, which ends with them securing a third consecutive promotion. In other FX news, Wrexham owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are teaming up with Eva Longoria to co-produce a new show for the network called Nexaca, covering a Mexican club of the same name as it seeks to return to soccer dominance.

Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro is teaming up with the Toronto International Film Festival to host a lecture series on Canadian horror movies at TIFF Lightbox from July 9-13. He’ll discuss the genre’s significance through a number of films released across various decades. TIFF Lightbox and del Toro are working on a free, upcoming outdoor screening of his award-winning flick The Shape of Water as part of the film festival’s 50th anniversary.

Big Sean is linking with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra to perform a special concert celebrating Motor City’s musical legacy. The rapper, who will also emcee the night scheduled for June 29 at Orchestra Hall, will be joined by some of Detroit’s rising artists like Skilla Baby, Tee Grizzley, Illa J, Nasaan, and Queen Naija. The event is sponsored by the Pistons and tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday. 

David Beckham will be joined by his superstar pal Tom Cruise for the final installment of his Beckham and Friends Live altcast during the UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan. The duo will broadcast live from Munich’s Allianz Arena on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET, but those watching at home can catch them in action on Paramount+. The release also teased that the duo will welcome additional celebrity friends.

Anthropic confirmed Wednesday that Reed Hastings, co-founder and chairman of Netflix, is joining the AI startup’s board. Anthropic lauded Hastings for his “extensive experience” and said he brings an “understanding of how to ensure technology serves broader societal goals.” Earlier this year, Hastings made a $50 million gift to his alma mater, Bowdoin College, to fund a new discipline on AI and humanity.
