As anticipation grows ahead of this summer’s F1 film release, the soundtrack artist lineup was revealed Thursday for the blockbuster starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. Lending their musical talents include Burna Boy, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, Raye, Roddy Ricch, Sexyy Red, and Dom Dolla. The Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures project opens in theaters June 27.

The 2025 Tony Award nominations were revealed Thursday, and a trio of Broadway productions – Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her, and Maybe Happy Ending – picked up 10 nominations apiece, including all three being up for Best Musical. On the acting side, Hollywood favorite George Clooney (Good Night, and Good Luck) secured a nom as a leading actor in a play in his debut and six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald (Gypsy) could extend her record for the most awards by a performer with seven if she wins the Best Performance By a Lead Actress in a Musical category.

Apple and Amazon both beat Wall Street expectations on Thursday when they reported their Q1 reports. For Apple, sales of its most popular product, the iPhone, beat projections at $46.8 billion, but the company missed the mark in its service department, where an annual 11.65% increase to $26.65 billion still fell slightly short of projections. Amazon, meanwhile, reported a 19% jump in ad sales to $13.92 billion, further establishing itself as the third-largest digital advertiser behind Meta and Google.

The reigning WNBA champions New York Liberty have fittingly inked a jersey patch deal with Liberty Mutual Insurance. This multi-year partnership means Liberty Mutual’s logo will be displayed on the front of all Liberty jerseys beginning with their title defense season. More Liberty Mutual branding will be placed on the Liberty’s home court at Barclays Center and appear on the team’s seatbacks and kickplates. Only question that remains: Will Liberty Mutual’s LiMu Emu join Ellie the Elephant for a dance break at some point?

Relics belonging to famed director Wes Anderson are going on display at the Design Museum in London this fall. Among the more than 600 objects available for viewing are the Fendi fur coat worn by Gwyneth Paltrow as Margot Tenenbaum in The Royal Tenenbaums, stop-motion puppets from The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and various original storyboards, Polaroids, handwritten notebooks, and more. Wes Anderson: The Archives opens on Nov. 21. 

Travis Scott tapped filmmaker Harmony Korine to direct the new trailer for the upcoming Jackboys 2 compilation album. As part of the rollout, the artist’s online store has undergone a Jackboys makeover, offering merchandise, vinyl covers, and CD covers. The first Jackboys project was released in 2019 and featured Cactus Jack Records artists such as Sheck Wes and Don Toliver. Still no word on when the project will be released. 

During Meta’s Q1 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said WhatsApp has officially crossed the 3 billion monthly user mark. A private messaging platform used in over 180 countries, WhatsApp was founded in 2009 and was purchased five years later by Facebook for $19 billion. It is also one of the company’s biggest distribution platforms for AI services.

ESPN is already experiencing incredible viewership success in these NBA Playoffs, and it’s only the first round. Through 11 games, the network’s platforms are averaging 4,448,000 viewers per contest, a 13% increase from last season. The second weekend of the postseason averaged 5,462,000 viewers across ESPN, a 4% uptick from last year.

Ari Emanuel has acquired Frieze from Endeavor Group Holdings as it continues to sell off non-WME businesses. According to the Financial Times, the business mogul has started a new events and experiences company that will house the contemporary art and digital platform. The deal reportedly now values Frieze at nearly $200 million. Chief executive Simon Fox will remain in his current role. 

It won’t be long before we hear new music from Kid Cudi, with the rapper confirming Thursday that his new single “NEVERLAND” is dropping next Friday, May 9. Bearing the same name as his upcoming short film premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 7, this marks Cudi’s most recent work since his 10th studio album Insano dropped in February 2024.
