Mikaylah Williams Joins Kiki Rice on Jordan Brand NIL Roster

Jordan Brand has added one of the NCAA women’s most promising basketball stars to its roster. On Friday, the brand announced in a joint Instagram post with Mikaylah Williams that the LSU guard is the newest member of its NIL program. Hoping to help guide the Bayou Bengals to a second straight national championship, Williams was named SEC Freshman of the Year earlier this month. Other athletes a part of Jordan Brand‘s star-studded NIL cohort include UCLA’s Kiki Rice and high school star Kiyomi McMiller.

NBC's Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony to Air Live in IMAX

NBC confirmed Friday that its live coverage of the upcoming Olympics Opening Ceremony in Paris on July 26 will play on over 150 IMAX screens in the US. “We look forward to providing our Opening Ceremony coverage to audiences at IMAX locations across the country, sharing in this historic moment as the world regathers to witness the spectacular beginning of 16 days of athletic greatness against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful cities in the world,” Gary Zenkel, President of NBC Olympics, said. Ticket prices for the IMAX screenings were not immediately made public following the announcement.

Nike to Replace Adidas as German Soccer's Sponsor

After 70 years, Adidas and the German national team are ending their partnership, and according to The Associated Press, Nike will outfit the team with apparel and equipment from 2027 until 2034. In a statement, DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said The Swoosh “made by far the best financial offer,” but still thanked Adidas for its support and emphasized that the Federation remains “fully committed” to achieving success with the German-based company until their contract expires at the end of 2026. During the Adidas-Germany partnership, the team has lifted four men’s World Cup trophies, three men’s Euros, two women’s World Cups, and eight women’s Euros championships.

Tennessee Protecting Musicians From AI Threats with ELVIS Act

Tennessee just became the first state to enact a bill that protects songwriters, performers, and other music industry professionals against the potential threats of artificial intelligence. The Ensuring Likeness Voice and Image Security Act, or ELVIS Act, is a revised iteration of the state’s old right of publicity law. While the old bill protected an artist’s name, photograph, or likeness, the new measure now includes AI-specific safeguards. Starting July 1, when the law goes into effect, individuals will be barred from using AI to mimic an artist’s voice without consent.

Peacock Retains Over 70% of Subscribers from Exclusive NFL Playoff Stream

When Peacock aired the first streaming-exclusive playoff match between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, they added 3 million new subscribers as a result. Fast-forward several weeks, and according to new findings from Antenna, 71% (2.13 million) of those new users were still around by the end of February. For context, Peacock‘s one-month retention rate across all subscribers last year was 78%. Compared to the longest-ever Super Bowl game in history between the 49ers and back-to-back champions, Antenna notes that Paramount+ recorded 3.4 million new signees to its platform.

Quinta Brunson To Receive Honorary Degree From Temple

Quinta Brunson is heading back to university, but not as a student. Temple University announced Friday that the Emmy-winning actress and writer is set to receive an honorary degree during the school’s 137th Commencement in May. “Quinta embodies the spirit of Temple’s commitment to creativity, innovation, and social impact. Her talent, authenticity, and trailblazing spirit inspire us all,” said President Richard M. Englert. Temple plans to hold two events in early May to celebrate the former student’s achievements in entertainment. In her first year, Brunson enrolled at Klein College, where she joined Temple University Television’s first student-produced comedy variety show.
