Major free agency decisions lie ahead of one of the NFL’s oldest franchises. Is Davante Adams’ time in Green Bay actually coming to a close?
There is only one team with a tighter salary cap situation than the Green Bay Packers heading into 2022 — the New Orleans Saints. And with that comes serious questions remain about the future of not just franchise quarterback and four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers — who is still technically under contract but can choose to opt out of his deal this spring — but All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams. And there’s a chance that they may turn out to be an all-or-nothing package deal.
Suffice to say that head coach Matt Lafleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst have their work cut out for them. And to thread all these needles, the franchise tag is most certainly in play.
