Draymond Green Debuts Converse G4 ”Hyper Swarm” Ahead of Global Release

Last Updated: July 21, 2021
Fans will be able to purchase Draymond’s golden kicks for the first time starting May 26.

After joining Converse’s player lineup in March 2020, Draymond Green’s sneakers will finally be made available to the public in the form of a collaborative player’s edition that arrives just in time for the NBA Playoffs.

As his Golden State Warriors hit the Play-in Tournament in hopes of securing a playoff spot, the big man’s Converse G4 ”Hyper Swarm” player exclusive shoe that fans have seen throughout the 2020-21 season will be made available starting May 26 in a striking gold and black colorway.

“This is big for Draymond,” Boardroom’s Nick DePaula said. “To get his own PE release and marketing push from Converse is exactly why he signed on last year. Being able to give design input as a featured athlete with the brand is a big step for him in the sneaker game.”

The Converse G4 utilizes  Nike React foam technology in the heel and Nike Zoom in the forefoot to help the three-time NBA champion and 2017 Defensive Player of the Year patrol the court with his singular intensity. The gold colorway peels back to reveal the inner structure of a beehive, indicative of Draymond’s iconically fierce leadership style.

The kicks also feature a graphic depicting a swarm of bees on each sockliner.

In anticipation of the shoe’s release to the general public, Green laid out his top-five qualities for an elite defensive team: Discipline, effort, communication, control, and rebounding.

What the 30-year-old three-time NBA All-Star and five-time All-Defense selection preaches is clearly working because his Warriors are fifth in the NBA in defensive efficiency heading into Wednesday’s play-in clash against the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.

“I don’t think there are a lot of great defenders in this league,” Green said. “It’s not because players aren’t capable — it’s because players don’t care. We all know the pretty side of the game, the guys who drop 40 a night, but the reality is that [that] if you want to win, you have to care on the other side of the ball.”

And for the better part of the last decade, nobody takes care of that side of the ball like Dray.

The Converse x Draymond Green G4 “Hyper Swarm” PE will be available starting May 26 at Converse.com and select global retailers.
