Doritos Bowl 2021: Elite Gamers Chase the Chip

Last Updated: December 3, 2021
A $175,000 prize pool is on the line as as top Twitch personalities across the worlds of gaming and esports compete in the latest edition of the Doritos Bowl Dec. 6.

Bowl season is back. Doritos Bowl season, to be exact.

One of the gaming calendar’s premier events, the 2021 Doritos Bowl takes place Monday, Dec. 6 and streams live on Twitch. The winning team will receive a year supply of Doritos, plus an entirely different kind of chip: a shiny trophy and a cut of a $175,000 prize pool.

This year, however, the setup is a little different.

Four gaming titans and Twitch content creators — Swagg, itsHafu, lolTyler1, and iiTzTimmy — have drafted teams of 20 to go to battle in a one-day melee featuring five different games. Among those five: a mystery title that’s yet to be announced, adding an intriguing wrinkle to the festivities.

“Bringing next-level experiences is at the core of who we are as a brand, our fans have come to expect Doritos to deliver new and exciting experiences,” said Caio Correa, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay North America, in a press release. “We know creators tend to stick to the games and genres they know, so we’re bringing fans the opportunity to catch their favorite Twitch influencer playing a game they may not typically play.”

The four known games are all titles the participants played during qualifying tournaments: Call of Duty: Warzone, Hearthstone, League of Legends, and Golf with your Friends.

Each of the four team captains leads the charge to the Doritos Bowl with a signature blend of experience, confidence, and strategy.

“I like to think my past experiences gives me an advantage against the other teams, and I’m looking forward to schooling the rest of the captains with the team I’ve built to win Bowl this year,” said team captain Kris “Swagg” Lambertson of FaZe Clan in an official release.

“The Doritos Bowl is the ultimate combination of team play as we take on five different games in one day,” Tyler ‘lolTyler1’ Steinkamp added. “You really have to make sure you have depth and trust in the people you select for your team. I know I’m bringing a stacked team to this year’s Doritos Bowl! Get ready for some epic play – because Doritos Bowl is BACK!”

Fans can catch all the action on the Twitch Rivals channel. It all starts Monday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. ET.
