NBA Top Shot Unveils Klay Thompson ‘Game Recognize Game’ Pack

Last Updated: July 20, 2023
The all-new curated NFTs honor Klay’s triumphant return from injury after a 941-day layoff, as well as comebacks made by stars like Draymond Green, Paul George, and Gordon Hayward.

Dapper Labs announced Thursday that it has partnered with Klay Thompson and his 941 Project to curate an all-new NBA Top Shot “Game Recognize Game” NFT Pack.

Appropriately, these packs will have a 941 theme and will become available to fans beginning April 7 at noon PST.

“Named after the 941 days Klay endured in recovery after sustaining two-consecutive career-threatening injuries, the 941 packs will feature Moments handpicked by Klay from Derrick Rose, Paul George, Draymond Green, DeMarcus Cousins, Zach LaVine, and Gordon Hayward, who have all suffered debilitating injuries and through hard work and dedication have continued their careers in the NBA,” according to Dapper Sports‘ Head of Communications Nate Nesbitt.

Thompson first suffered a torn ACL during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. The three-time NBA champion and five-time All-Star then suffered an Achilles tear in November 2020. He finally returned to the game action Jan. 9 for Golden State’s 96-82 win over Cleveland.

“This honestly might have been the best feeling of my career, to come back after two major injuries and still dunk on a couple cats my first game back after 941 days,” Thompson said of his Moment postering two Cavs. “That’s some inspiring stuff.”

“It’s like starting over again,” the 32-year-old continued. “It’s like my rookie year this season. When you miss two years off, that’s such a long time. You have to mentally prepare to be an NBA player again, and that takes great fortitude — mental fortitude — because we play so many games. Especially when you have championship aspirations.”

Klay Thompson is averaging 18.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists across 29 games since returning for the Warriors, whom FanDuel had at +700 to win the 2022 NBA Finals as of Tuesday.

To further celebrate Thompson’s individual feat, Dapper Labs will conduct a giveaway contest over the next week for the sneakers Thompson wore when draining 17 points in that comeback game. The rules as are as follows:

Existing Users:

  • Convert 1 Moment to a trade ticket
  • Join the Klay GRG pack drop queue on April 7 at noon PST (1 entry per person)

New Users:

  • Create an account (1 entry)
  • Join the Klay GRG pack drop queue on April 7 at noon PST (1 entry per person)

In addition, Dapper Labs will make a donation of $94,100 to the 941 Project “to assist and support re-entry to the workplace for individuals from disadvantaged situations.”

The 941 Project was unveiled in early February by the Thompson Family Foundation, with Dapper Labs identified as a founding partner.
