The New Era of Collaboration: How Music and Sports Drive Business

In a very special Boardroom Talks presented by Bose, Rich Kleiman discusses the intersections of sports, business, and entertainment with Bose CMO Jim Mollica, Quavo, and Carmelo Anthony

Sports, business, entertainment, and tech combined onstage at San Francisco’s International Smoke for a very special edition of Boardroom Talks presented by Bose.

Boardroom co-founder and CEO Rich Kleiman hosted a sweeping conversation featuring rapper, actor, and philanthropist Quavo, first-ballot Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, and Bose CMO Jim Mollica. Together, they explored the ever-growing intersection of sports and entertainment and how brands like Bose continue to evolve, leveraging these cultural moments in innovative ways.

From their collaboration with KITH to their ongoing partnership with Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards, Mollica highlights how essential authentic collaboration has become for the brand when bringing together premium products and attracting audiences. For his part, everything goes back to the music for Mollica, who uses his deep knowledge to spark connections with potential collabs long before any official contracts are drawn.

Quavo reflected on how his career is deeply intertwined with NBA culture, while Anthony spoke about the role music plays in an athlete’s journey. “I think there’s so much intertwined when it comes to music and sports. We can’t get ready, we don’t work out, we don’t train without listening to music,” he said. “Certain songs make us do certain things on the court. It’s a vibe that we get, a rhythm we look for … We try to identify something in that song that takes us to the next level.”

A highlight of All-Star Weekend, this conversation captured the essence of cultural collaboration and the powerful synergy between music, sports, and business.
