Scottie Scheffler Takes Home the Masters Title, $2.7M Top Prize

The Masters Tournament has a new member of its very exclusive club. Scottie Scheffler took home the green jacket, teeing up his fourth title in less than 60 days. Scheffler rounded out the tournament at 10 under par after a double bogey on the 18th. The nerves may have made things slightly exciting for one second, but damage had already been done with Rory McIlroy bringing in second place and $1.24 million at seven-under-par, finishing the day with an unlikely chip in from the trap on 18. 

Elon Musk Turns Down Opportunity to Join the Twitter Board

The tale of Elon Musk and Twitter continues to write itself. Last week, Musk purchased a 9.2% share in the social media platform, becoming the largest single shareholder. Next, the new CEO Parag Agrawal announced that Twitter had offered Musk a place on its Board of Directors. The plot thickened on Sunday, as Agrawal confirmed that Musk would not take the position, sending shares plummeting in pre-market trading.

LeBron James Submits New Metaverse Filings

LeBron may be sitting out the postseason, but King James has plans to stay busy. In addition to rebuilding the troubled Lakers, which is likely to include finding a new coach, James has filed an additional set of trademarks for his metaverse presence. According to trademark attorney Josh Gerben, James’ camp filed paperwork for “Strive for Greatness,” “Striving 4 Greatness,” “Strive 4 Greatness,” and “Striving for Greatness.” The filings cover a whole manner of virtual and physical goods, including downloadable digital assets such as digital collectibles, digital tokens, and NFTs.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Takes in $71M, Sets New Records

Movie theaters are back, and they are looking to set new records. First up, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 sped into cities across the country, raking up $71 million on its opening weekend. The film, which stars Jim Carrey, Idris Elba, Natasha Rothwell, and Adam Pally, set a new record for movies based on video games and eclipsed the opening weekend numbers for the 2020 original, which took in $58 million.

Crypto Values Cool After Recent Surge

The crypto winter began to thaw, but a storm may be brewing. Bitcoin and Ethereum values dipped to their lowest rates in weeks, having dropped nearly 10% in value in the last week. Insiders anticipated a boost following Bitcoin 2022, but the news coming from the conference did little to bolster the value. The trends also mimic those of the stock market, which has also been slipping in recent weeks.

Metamask Links with Apple Pay to Streamline NFT Purchases

A new move makes purchasing cryptocurrency as simple as scanning your face with your phone. Metamask announced a new app upgrade that will enable users to buy crypto through their phones. The news is expected to be a game-changer, increasing accessibility, while also decreasing affiliated gas prices. Users will be able to transfer as much as $400 per day in crypto into their Metamask wallet.
