Harlow will star in the role made famous by Woody Harrelson in the original 1992 cult classic.
Alright, Jack Harlow is officially on fire now.
And he’s taking his basketball prowess one step above the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.
Deadline reported Thursday that the Grammy-nominated Louisville rapper will make his acting debut in 20th Century’s reboot of White Men Can’t Jump — the 1992 Ron Shelton sports comedy that helped launch Woody Harrelson’s movie career.
“Harlow will step into the role played by Harrelson, and the circumstances behind his landing the starring role are exceptional,” Deadline‘s Justin Kroll relayed. “He got the lead after his first-ever screen audition, immediately winning over the filmmakers and execs, particularly [Kenya] Barris.”
Calmatic will direct the revivedWhite Men Can’t Jump, with the script from Barris and Doug Hall. Brooklyn Nets All-Star forward Blake Griffin is also attached as an executive producer through his Mortal Media production company.
Harlow is making a strong move into the film industry as he recently secured a feature on Ye’s DONDA sequel. The 23-year-old is featured on the Donda 2 track “LOUIE BAGS,” a full-circle moment for him in his young career because Ye was his idol growing up.
Ye deleted the post where he called Harlow “top 5 out right now,” but the sentiment remains.
Since releasing his Dec. 2020 full-length debut album That’s What They All Say, Harlow landed his first-ever No. 1 single as the featured artist on Lil Nas X’s “Industry Baby,” sold out his tour, and was named a New Balance ambassador.
