Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani again led Major League Baseball in jersey sales in 2025, joining Mookie Betts (2020-2022), Aaron Judge (2017-2019), and Derek Jeter (2010-2012) as the only players to claim the top spot three years in a row. Judge followed Ohtani in second, while teammates Freddie Freeman and Betts sit in third and fourth, respectively. Francisco Lindor rounds out the top five, while fellow Met Juan Soto sits just outside.

Electronic Arts, the company behind popular video game franchises such as Madden, FC (formerly known as FIFA), and The Sims, is reportedly eyeing a $50 billion deal that will take it private. According to The Wall Street Journal, the investing group includes both the private equity firm Silver Lake and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and the deal could be finalized as early as next week. EA’s stock closed the day up nearly 15% following the report.

Will Ferrell has reunited with Luke Wilson to play his rival in his upcoming golf comedy series on Netflix, joining a cast that already contains the likes of Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby. Wilson and Ferrell have teamed up on numerous projects before, including Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and Blades of Glory. Wilson’s brother, Owen, just starred in his own golf comedy series on Apple TV+, Stick.

iHeartRadio has tapped Jelly Roll, BigXthaPlug, Ed Sheeran, and more for its 2025 Jingle Ball tour, making stops in Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Atlanta, and Miami throughout December. Originally started in 1996 at Madison Square Garden, this year’s stop at the venue will also include Reneé Rapp, Alex Warren, Nelly, and a KPOP Demon Hunters special.

Sinclair and Nexstar, the two major local TV station groups that had pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! in the wake of the shooting of Charlie Kirk, announced Friday that they will resume airing the show after reaching respective agreements with ABC. Sinclair, which operates 185 stations across 85 markets nationwide, and Nexstar, which owns 24 ABC affiliates, had blocked the late-night program since its return on Tuesday, preventing millions of viewers from watching it.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest project, One Battle After Another, has already brought in $3.1 million in Thursday previews ahead of its debut weekend. The Federal Reserve‘s preferred inflation gauge — the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index — rose slightly in August, up 2.7% year-over-year. This marks the highest level since February and narrowly edges the 2.6% recorded in July. The Fed, which typically aims for a 2% inflation target, cut interest rates for the first time in 2025 earlier this month.

After drawing 47,627 fans in São Paulo to kick off the 2025 season, the NFL has decided to expand its reach in Brazil to Rio de Janeiro. The new deal will see the league play three regular-season games in the city over the next five years, with the first set for 2026 at Maracanã Stadium. The NFL says it has over 36 million fans across Brazil. 

The follow-up to The Social Network has finally been given a name and release date. Titled The Social Reckoning, the Sony Pictures film is set to release on Oct. 6, 2026. The cast includes Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Bill Burr, and Jeremy Strong, who will play Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. The movie, which is being labeled as a companion piece to the original film and is loosely centered around a series of articles from The Wall Street Journal known as “The Facebook Files,” is written and directed by Aaron Sorokin.
