Jimmy Butler, Alo Team Up on New Sneaker Collab
Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler, an Alo ambassador since 2022, has teamed up with the brand to launch a new and improved version of its Recovery Mode sneaker. Butler calls the shoe his “go-to for after a game, when I’m making coffee, playing dominoes, relaxing, just being around my people and my family.” To celebrate the launch, the Alo team is set to unveil a mural near the Chase Center on Thursday. The sneaker will be made available exclusively on Alo’s website and select brand stores on Oct. 1.
Amazon Agrees to Pay $2.5B to Settle Prime Allegations
After just three days in federal court, Amazon has agreed to pay $2.5 billion to settle allegations from the FTC that it tricked millions of customers into buying a Prime membership. The lawsuit, filed in June 2023, alleged that Amazon also sabotaged users’ attempts to cancel their subscription, although the company claims no wrongdoing in the matter.
Andy Reid Tops NFL’s Highest-Paid Coaches at $20M AAV
For the second straight year, Andy Reid leads all NFL head coaches in salary with an AAV of $20 million for the 2025 season. The Kansas City Chiefs‘ coach is followed by the Broncos‘ Sean Payton ($18 million), the Ravens‘ John Harbaugh ($17 million), the Steelers‘ Mike Tomlin ($16 million), and the Chargers‘ Jim Harbaugh ($16 million).
Spotify Removes Over 75M ‘Spammy’ Songs in AI Crackdown
In an effort to tackle “AI slop,” Spotify announced on Thursday that it has removed more than 75 million “spammy” songs over the past year, thanks to the implementation of new AI guidelines. “The future of the music industry is being written, and we believe that aggressively protecting against the worst parts of Gen AI is essential to enabling its potential for artists and producers,” the company wrote.
Tribeca Film Festival Sets Dates for 25th Anniversary
The dates for the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival have officially been set for June 3-14 in New York City. As the 25th anniversary of the event, Tribeca is set to honor notable alumni such as Damien Chazelle, Ryan Coogler, Nia DaCosta, and others, while continuing to spotlight independent voices across film, TV, online content, and podcasts. Delta Brings YouTube to In-Flight Entertainment in New Deal
Delta has entered a multi-year partnership with YouTube, launched on Thursday, to enhance its in-flight entertainment. The collaboration introduces YouTube creator content and podcasts to passengers, along with curated YouTube Music boarding playlists and complimentary trials of YouTube Premium. Content will be accessible via seatback screens and personal devices.
Mariah Carey to Get Exclusive SiriusXM Channel For Album Drop
In conjunction with her 16th studio album drop on Friday, SiriusXM is celebrating Mariah Carey with an exclusive, limited-run channel set to run from Sept. 26 through Oct. 25. Fans can tune into Mariah Radio to learn all about the making of Here for It All, Carey’s first album in seven years, including stories from behind the scenes.
Bill Burr Could Join Jeremy Allen White in Social Network Sequel
Director Aaron Sorkin is reportedly eyeing comedian Bill Burr for a role in the upcoming sequel to The Social Network from Sony Pictures. Burr is currently in negotiations with the studio, and if a deal is finalized, he would join a high-profile cast that already includes Jeremy Allen White, Mikey Madison, and Jeremy Strong. A release date for the follow-up film, which is said to be inspired by a series of articles from The Wall Street Journal known as “The Facebook Files,” has yet to be announced.
Starbucks to Close Stores, Lay Off Employees in $1B Restructuring Plan
Starbucks revealed a $1 billion restructuring plan on Thursday, which will involve closing approximately 1% of its stores, or around 500, in North America. Additionally, the popular coffee chain is expected to let go of roughly 900 non-retail employees, the second round of layoffs under Brian Niccol, who took over as Starbucks CEO in August 2024.
Walmart Named Presenting Partner of El Clásico in the U.S.
Walmart is making history as the first-ever presenting partner of El Clásico in the U.S., teaming up with La Liga to bring the iconic Barcelona vs. Real Madrid rivalry closer to American fans. The multi-year partnership includes viewing events, concerts, exclusive merchandise, and in-store activations, launching Oct. 24–26 in Houston. Refreshed branding featuring Walmart will also debut across U.S. and Canadian match promotions.
