Studbudz Are the Real Thing

Minnesota Lynx Guards Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman sit down with Boardroom to discuss the rapid rise to Twitch fame, building meaningful connections to fans, and so much more.

The WNBA Playoffs are heating up, and two stars of the No. 1-ranked Minnesota Lynx are extending their rapid rise into the postseason.

Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman are best friends and teammates who took their talents to Twitch. What started as 50 people tuning in to their first livestream became a sensation as their signature banter and general hilarity went viral over WNBA All-Star Weekend. Over the course of their time in Indianapolis, they locked in with some of the biggest names on the ground, sparking a realness rarely seen in W content. From Caitlin Clark to Diplo, no one could get enough of the duo.

Now, Williams puts it best: “Everybody loves the Studbudz.”

Before they even returned to Minnesota, brands such as DoorDash were contacting them. Back at the Target Center, fans showed up in droves in pink wigs. Even the W has leaned into their content – and they see this as a meaningful change for what the league is willing to lean into. “For a long time, you had to be feminine, you had to be a baddie to get the sponsorships, to get the platforms, and it has been that way for a long time,” Williams, a 10-year veteran of the league, told Boardroom. “And now, they’re leaning more into authenticity, they’re leaning more into individuality.”

And the timing couldn’t be more perfect for Williams and Hiedeman, who refuse to be anything other than themselves. Williams has been making original content since 2018, and the Studbudz channel is just an opportunity to give fans a real look behind the scenes.

However, amidst it all, they’re “keeping the main thing the main thing,” as the Lynx take over the top spot and are facing the history-making Valkyries in the first round of the playoffs.

Lock in for the full episode of the latest Boardroom Talks, where they talk about everything from their dream guests, maintaining their friendship amid it all, and much more.
